Jazz

The University of Kentucky brings together many jazz ensembles, and Duelity was one of the performances of the event. The band was made up of about fifteen members playing different instruments. These instruments include trumpets, flutes, drums, piano, and saxophone. These instruments together produced a fantastic performance that kept the audience enthralled for its duration. The players were very passionate and obviously very skilled. From watching them play, the audience can tell that they have had countless hours of practice to produced harmonized tunes that flow into each other effortlessly. The various instruments also complimented each other. The director of the ensemble ensured that the members hit all the right notes and guided the instrumentalists throughout their performance.

There are a few instances of audience participation. The video was taken from somewhere among the audience, and one can hear their response. They clap and cheer enthusiastically at various intervals during the performance. At the end of solo performances we can also see their appreciations there were cheers from the crowd. At the end, the audience as well as the director clapped and cheered showing that they had enjoyed the show immensely.

There were two amazing solo performances within the whole performance. The first was by a young man playing the flute. His performance was accompanied by drums and the piano. What was most mesmerizing about it was the high notes that he hit with his flute. It was also quite impressive how he moved from the high notes to the lowest while holding his own. He did not falter at any point, and the rest of the band took joined him seamlessly afterward. Towards the end, another gentleman also had a brief solo on a trumpet. The other trumpet players allowed him to take over briefly and just like the flute; he delivered a sterling performance with dramatic notes.

On the whole, I would say that the event was a huge success. The band was awe-inspiring and had intimate knowledge of their instruments. Every single member of the group played their instrument to perfection resulting in a harmonized sound. All the players were well versed with their pieces because there were no mishaps or interruptions at all. Throughout the performance, we can hear the audience give a positive response by either clapping or cheering. The band members were also very confident. Their director kept leading them, but it is also evident that they had practiced their performance ahead of time.

I would recommend the jazz concert to anyone. The music is quite entertaining and lasts only for a short while ensuring that the audience does not get bored. What I loved most about it were the cheerful band and director as well as the audience. Everyone seemed excited to hear the music, and this is obvious from their claps and cheers. A receptive and appreciative audience is very encouraging for the band, and it helps them become more confident and deliver an authentic performance. I saw nothing wrong with the whole performance, and I would definitely enjoy a repeat of the entire thing.

Jazz music is a unique genre that involves several instruments. Each of them requires considerable skill and practice. Individual instrumentalists then have to learn to work together to deliver a harmonized sound as per their desired music. The University of Kentucky concert is one of the best jazz experiences I have heard. I would encourage jazz lovers as well as newbies to attend the show or any other jazz concert to get a taste of the unique and spectacular sounds of different instruments.

Academic monitoring and why it is important

Academic monitoring is necessary in all learning institutions for appropriate service to all students and special attention where necessary. This is due to the difference of learning abilities in students, which is evident in their performances. Therefore, educators especially lower school teachers should come up with strategies which will accommodate all students and make learning effective. Studies have shown that proper implementation of these strategies always yields positive results, thus distinguishes effectual schools from the ineffective (Avery, 2008). There are no specifically strategies required for implementation for learning to be efficient; however, the effective teachers use their professionally acquired skills to come up with flexible measures that relate to the specific group of students. These should be able to be adjusted when handling a different group of students since academic attention varies.

With sufficient knowledge of the group of students that a teacher is dealing with, formulation of strategies would be the next step. These are used to crosscheck and evaluate students’ performances of classroom assignment and check on them during lessons. For instance, a teacher may give random examination to the students to enquire whether they study for examination purposes or for understanding. These results give the actual performance standards and the clear picture of the students’ participation in classroom lessons. This may require a teacher to indulge students in class by posing questions which require them to critically analyze the lessons’ teachings. Allowing students to monitor themselves is also a strategy that the teachers can use; thus, discover those who mostly require attention from the teacher (Blerkom, 2004). This can be used during lesson by moving around the classroom to monitor reaction of the students to the teacher’s presence and how they are going about their assignments.

There are students who perform relatively below the average standards in both their examinations and classroom assignments. The tutor can evaluate this kind of trend and strategize on how to help these students. Here, it is clear that the students face difficulties in their assignments and need assistance. First, it is important to impose an accountability ethic on the students to help them realize they are responsible for their own performance (Zimmerman, 1990). Where students realize they are responsible for their studies, it becomes easier for them to seek academic assistance where they face difficulty, thus can be assisted. This is a method that will involve students in improving their own performance, thus, they regulate their own learning. With difficulty in class assignments, teachers can apply a one on one contact with class during lessons. The close relationship will enhance confidence and willingness to work harder on the areas they are facing difficulties. Giving of tasks to exercise on these specific areas and scores gives them a chance to practice harder (Avery, 2008).

For a teacher to carefully know the abilities of students, study of the performance trend in assignments, examinations, class participation is necessary. It is more likely that better performance is observed where there is a balance in all the three fields. They can therefore involve students by asking questions to review their understanding and willingness to attempt to respond (Avery, 2008). These strategies have been effective over the years according to researchers. This is because; special attention on a student boosts his/her self esteem which will give them the morale to try harder and be less fearful of failure. The encouragement of self regulation as a learning strategy also gives better chances for the evaluation of their own trends thus put more of extra effort on their own while getting assistance where necessary to improve their performance (Zimmerman, 1990). Academic monitoring strategies are clearly effective where team work between students and their tutors is evident.

Tobacco use is a leading cause of death in the United States due to its adverse effects on human health. Health care practitioners have the responsibility and ability to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use significantly. Educating people on the dangers of smoking tobacco is a positive measure towards tobacco cessation. Quitting has positive effects on patients struggling with tobacco use, and clinicians play a significant role in assisting patients quit smoking tobacco.

Cigarette smoking is a leading cause of death in the United States since it causes about 443,585 deaths every year. Tobacco use in America has been so prevalent such that, in the year 2010, the tobacco industry spent $8.5 billion promoting and advertising the product, an amount that surpassed the national budget for tobacco prevention. It is, therefore, a national concern to promote tobacco cessation since a majority of the adult smokers wants to quit smoking and some have even attempted to quit in the past. Pharmacists are the best-placed professionals to facilitate quitting by initiating the necessary efforts or complementing those initiated by other health providers. They can reach out to assist the marginalized groups that have a high prevalence for diseases associated with tobacco because their advice does not need medical insurance or appointment.

A guide provided by the US Public Health Service urges clinicians to incorporate the 5 A’s of tobacco cessation treatment intervention, which are:

Advise tobacco users to quit

Ask about tobacco use

Assess readiness to quit

Assist with quitting

Arrange follow-up care (McBane et al. 5).

In addition, the guide also requires that staff and students in the health profession receive relevant training on effective strategies to facilitate tobacco cessation among the population. All health providers will also be required to have the minimum qualification to offer counseling on tobacco cessation to the users.

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy acknowledges that promoting health and preventing diseases through educating the public is indispensable. Hence, educating people on tobacco cessation will also be fundamental and should be included in the pharmacy curricula of health professional institutions (McBane et al. 4). This measure will ensure that pharmacy graduates will acquire the necessary knowledge that is evidence-based and requisite skills to assist patients struggling with tobacco use. In addition, professionals teaching subjects related with tobacco cessation should also be competent and enlightened on the content. They should be able to offer relevant counseling on cessation and screen patients for tobacco use as a component of care. The Tobacco Control Committee also urges academic pharmacy to make tobacco cessation and control a priority, and recognize pharmacists as inherent associates of the public health community because they play a significant role in helping patients quit tobacco use and offer them helpful counseling (McBane et al. 2).

Pharmacy organizations have initiated professional based resolutions and policies with the aim of facilitating tobacco cessation and control. However, the professional fraternity has not fully implemented the strategies and integrated them in their practice. All teaching professionals should unite in eliminating tobacco sale in all pharmacies and institutions rendering health care services such as clinics and hospitals (McBane et al. 5). In order to reinforce the policy, the government should discontinue the renewal of existing licenses or issuing of new licenses for pharmacies selling or intending to sell tobacco products. Moreover, only pharmacies and entities not selling tobacco products should be beneficiaries of government-funded prescription programs. This will ensure that sale of tobacco in pharmacies is flushed out completely.

Introduction

The associations between the United States and Iran have persisted ever from the nineteenth century. The American missionaries are regarded to have been in Iran for a more extended period than the nineteenth century. However, the real association between these two countries is well evident only from the Second World War. The association between the United States and Iran has commonly been tight, but it seems to have deteriorated. The Historical Context between the United States and Iran

According to this paper, the interactions, as well as the interrelations between the United States, instigated in 1951.

In 1951, the excellent relationship between the United States and Iran that existed before experienced a crisis in 1951. Consequently, the United States became suspicious of the ancient imperial powers and therefore they backed the nationalists’ movement which was perceived as a significant obstacle towards the spread of communism. The United States was in support of Iran in controlling its oil industry, and they urged the British to look at the plight of the Iranians. However, they were persuaded by the British who from the first beginning oppressed the Iranians. Therefore the two joined hands against Iran.

In 1953, Truman who was the United States leader was not willing to accept the collaboration with the British to overthrow Mossadegh. However, when Eisenhower came to power with his administration, things changed. Eisenhower together with his brother Allen who happened to be the Head of the CIA both decided to join the British to overthrow the Iranian ruler. A joint American-British conspiracy contributed to the ousting of the duly elected Prime Minister. They eventually succeeded in overthrowing him, and thus this was regarded as the 1953 coup. Therefore most of the Iranians saw this as the original sin and from there the relationship between the two countries developed from bad to worse. Afterwards, there was the restoration of the monarch whereby Shah Mohammad Pahlavi who was liked by the Western countries came to power.

The coup consolidated power beneath the Shah, making specific cooperation on oil and discouraging Communist expansion. All this was according to the British interests. Up to now, this coup that led to the removal of Mossadegh is still recognized and more so remembered by the Iranians (Gasiorowski and Mark, p.62). They regard it as a symbol of the Western countries in meddling in Iranian internal affairs resulting in the weakening of the country’s economy as well as poor governance. They regard that the move was much inspired by greed.

In 1957, the United States assisted Iran to start its nuclear plant. Shah signed a deal with the United States which was a civil nuclear collaboration treaty. The United States president’s advisers settled at the point that the crisis in Iran, was home-grown and therefore it was not a communist-motivated one as it was regarded. Afterwards, a new revolution was formed whereby the demonstrators spread even to the nearby areas bringing some other coalitions together, for example, the merchants, mullahs as well as the middle-class students who had one thing in common as well as the same goalmouth that Shah had to go. When Shah’s soldiers killed around four hundred protestors on 8th September 1978, and also wounded four thousand in Tehran’s Jaleh Square, he was anticipated that he would eventually step down or be made to live office sooner or later (Lansford and Tom, p.64). In their response, the United States decided to limit their economic interactions with Iran by freezing their assets. This led to the diplomatic relations between the two countries to be cut short in 1980. Several incidences followed after that like holding into hostage the Americans who were in Iran. After Ronald Regan was elected the United States President and took oath in 1981, the American hostages were finally released by Iran. However, the release of the hostages, the relationship amid the new government in Washington plus the Islamic Republic in Tehran continued to be frosty.

The relationship between the two countries deteriorated which led to several severe incidences happening mainly in Iran. A good example is Beirut bombing which occurred in 1983. Several examples explain the contemporary situation of the foreign policy between the United States and Iran. For instance: Khamenei quickly condemned the attacks that happened in 2011. Conflicts breed opportunities in many varied contexts. However difficult noting these opportunities might be, there is always an upside when human relationships are destabilized by conflict. Conflicts in romantic relationships, family relationships, or even the workplace all have a positive that can always be taken out of them. Some of these opportunities are sometimes even seized by the individuals involved unknowingly.

In romantic relationships, conflict raises the opportunity for both parties to pursue individual goals that otherwise were clouded by romance and the good of the moment. A common struggle for partners in thriving romantic relationships is a halt in the pursuit of individual life goals. Before romantic relationships, people have their personal ambitions and dreams of what they would like to be in the future. Romance has a way of clouding minds and partners tend to forget about these ambitions, dreams, or targets. Finding a person quitting what they used to do is not a rare occurrence whenever people get into serious romantic relationships. Conflict, in this case, serves as a reminder to lovers that before love, they had individual goals and now that they aren’t on very good terms, it is time to get back to chasing their dreams. It is an interference that ultimately impacts victims positively.

Conflicts in family relationships are in many cases the gateway to independence. Inherently, family members are responsible for one another and in seamless family relationships, support to a member almost looks like an entitlement. Conflict exposes this false sense of entitlement banishing any form of dependence on one member by another. An example is an adult who is dependent on their parents. Many employees are in a comfort zone at their workplaces and often do not seek further opportunities. The perception is that when one quits a job, they are headed for a struggle, nobody sees the possibility of a better job. The grass may be greener on the other side, and this is what workplace conflict unlocks. A chance to better opportunities or the chance to get better at what one does. Before the Coronavirus pandemic, for instance, not many people knew that most of the tasks done in offices can be done from home. Or better still the opportunities online were not being fully seized. Conflict at workplaces can force individuals into better opportunities or into better ways of doing things. Generally, conflicts, – often viewed in a bad light; and whose negative effects are what people tend to dwell on. breed several opportunities some of which are noticeable while others are seized subconsciously.

The U.S has a foreign policy that makes it stand for the restoration of peace in the regions especially if the country affected has been or is at a strategic point in terms of location or other relevant material gains and treaties that the United States share with the affected country (Hook & Spanier, 2018). For decades now, the U.S has assisted many countries, most of them being from the Asian regions and the main reason is that they are strategic for the trade especially in the oil industry. Therefore, there are some cases that the U.S have used an integrated approach to solve the war crisis in the region, some of them being successful while others failed.

In the first case where the United States has made success to restore peace is Libya, a country in the Northern part of Africa that had been involved in disputes (Woodward, 2016). As it has been said earlier that the United States does not venture or does not have interests with countries that it does not benefit from, Libya is an oil-producing nation, and therefore it becomes a country of interest. Another reason as to why the U.S had to step in and help the country solve its internal problems is that the then president of Libya, Muammar Gadhafi had been in power for long and was against the idea of the United States being involved in the country’s affairs. Most of the oil producing nations are engaged in domestic violence with antagonist groups rising against the government, trying to overthrow and take control of its country resources. Libya is not an exemption as antagonist gangs rose against the government forcing the U.S step in to assist. Here, the mission was a success, and the main reason for the excellence is that the government was weak as it had spent years fighting the opposition. Besides, the government was losing its popularity in that the president had been in power for a long time and the people needed a change, a transition to another government. The primary interest of engaging in the peacekeeping mission is that the U.S could enjoy the benefit of ripping the oil field and therefore the main areas that they secure first are the strategic points.

In another case, the U.S has had affairs in the Middle East especially in Syria. Syria has been in war for many years, and the main reason to be at war is for the control of oil, the only golden mines in the region as the country relies primarily on oil for their growth (Krieg, 2016). The fact that the government in Syria was not welcomed to the idea of the United States joining the war by deploying their troops in the country made it difficult for the U.S to bring peace. Syria is one of the largest oil-producing nations in the middle east, and therefore, the act of the U.S troops setting their foot in the country means that they were ready to take control of the golden fields, the only treasure for the government, depriving it of its main source of income. Due to this, it could not be simple to let it go in the name of restoring sanity in the country. The Syrian government stood strong, leaving no chances for the U.S troops. Due to this, the U.S had no other option other than using the usual tricks, attacking the enemy from within, and this meant finding an ally from the country to help stop the government. In doing this, the U.S took the initiative of sponsoring the antagonistic groups in the country, making them strong so that they could overthrow the government promising them that they will take the government once peace has prevailed. As these groups are power-hungry, they end up agreeing, getting ammunition from the U.S and fighting their own government. Through such sponsorship, the U.S contributed to the formation of the ISIS, Islamic groups to fight the government. The groups were formed to weaken the government, but they went out of control as they gained more power than what the U.S had expected. The U.S plans became a failure, leading the withdrawal of its troops from the region as their soldiers could perish in the region.

The two cases have some similarities in that the U.S is a superpower country and this means that it has ample resources that it can use to restore peace in areas of war. It, therefore, means that the country has strong and well-trained soldiers as well as tens of modern ammunition that help the soldiers fight and win the war against the countries of interest, restoring peace after destroying the present forms of government and instituting one of their kind. Getting into war is the main tool that the U.S troops have been using to restore peace as they have to subdue the resistance either by capturing or eliminating the leaders involved in the war. In the first case of Libya, the U.S succeeded because the people were in dire need of a new president and so, the government was losing popularity among its people. Besides, the presence a strong opposition that was reinforced by the U.S military made it possible to weaken the defenses allowing for an easy transition.

On the other hand, in Syria, it was difficult for the U.S to restore peace. The country had been in war for long, and the formation of the ISIS did not come in their favor. It is the same groups that turned against the U.S becoming more radical and uncontrolled and therefore making the restoration of peace in the region difficult. Besides, the region is known to be a terrorist background, with the Taliban and the Al-Qaeda having their basis in the regions. The terrorist groups have a lot of funding, and they are not afraid of engaging in war, unlike the U.S troops who fear death, the terror groups believe to be fighting Jihad, holy war and therefore difficult to deal with completely. It is due to this that the U.S troops failed to restore peace in a short period as the war became extensive against their will.

The two cases were of relevance to the U.S government in that, taking control of the region meant that they controlled the production as well as the sale of oil. Oil is the heart of both countries, and therefore it’s of strategic interests. Furthermore, in engaging in peacekeeping mission meant that they could have an opportunity to sell their weapons and at the same time making deals with the country concerning development, making them a preferred party to work with in future due to their aid. Besides, terror has been a major threat to the U.S since the September 11 attack and therefore it is the mission of the U.S troops to keep guard of its people preventing cases of terror attack in future and to do so they have to deploy intelligence from the terror tone countries as well as the breeding grounds for terrorists such as Syria and Libya.

There are a number of lessons that can be withdrawn from the two cases for the pursuit of the U.S foreign policy. Dealing with terror is a global issue, and therefore it calls for the action of all the relevant bodies to control. If it is not our responsibility to restore sanity and peace in war tone areas, then we shall become the victims either directly or indirectly. Another lesson is that, in peacekeeping missions, using rebels to fight against the government can be a success, while at the same time be a failure depending on the kind of group that one is dealing with, knowing the interests of each group makes the process of peacekeeping simpler and achievable at a lesser duration.

The united states of America is a union of many states, and it is in this union whereby the state of Nevada is found. The united states of America have its general federal constitution, which applies to everyone, and it has effects on every part of the union of states. However, each of the states has its leadership and its constitution. This makes it easy to run different activities in the federal government’s conditions has given autonomy to the states to run their actions, and the federal government only comes in when the issue at hand must involve the federal government. In line with this, the different constitutions of the other and varied states borrow a lot from the federal government constitution due to their relatedness and how they serve the same people even though in different geographical jurisdictions. Therefore, Nevada’s constitution and the constitution of the federal government are related expertly. Herein consequently, I will discuss the three branches of government: executive, legislative, and judicial arms of the two governments, which are the government of the united states of America and the government of the state of Nevada (Rawle, 1825). 

The history of the United States of America’s constitution has exciting and essential events that help us understand the progress of the union, and this is an integral part of understanding the government of the united states of America. The US constitution took effect in 1789, and from all this time, it has always served as the supreme law of the US. The constitution was written during the Philadelphia convention, and it was made better in the years 1787 and 1788 before its release and affirmation that it was the supreme law of the land in 1789. From the time it was enacted, it has been amended twenty-seven times, and the reconstruction amendments and the bill of rights were the most critical amendments that took place. The constitution of Nevada was formulated and passed in 1864. Delegates framed it, and the people of the territory voted for it to be their accepted law to govern them (Bowers, 2014). After enacting the constitution that the president of that time, Abraham Lincoln, proclaimed the acceptance and receivership of the state of Nevada into the union officially.

The judiciary system of the united states federal government and that of Nevada are closely related. This is for a fundamental reason that they all serve the same duty even though with different weights. They are all involved in the enforcement of laws and correction of behaviors that are not according to the constitutions of their respective areas of jurisdiction. The judiciary arm of the government has its peculiar manner of doing and running its activities. Therefore, this separates it from the other government components that also perform their duties in their way. The primary separation from the other arms is that the judicial system is independent. It applies to everyone, even the top-most leader of the union or the state of Nevada.

In the federal government, the president is responsible for appointing the justices, after which the senate approves their appointments, and they are allowed to serve for a lifetime. The justices are expected never to be affected by political climate since they are forbidden from campaigning. In Nevada State, however, judges’ election is different in that a district-wide vote votes them, and they serve for six years. Therefore, in Nevada, it is more political, while in the federal government, it is more entirely outside the politics. Thus even though the manner of election or selection is different, they still serve the same purpose and bring justice to the whole of the United States of America.

Executive leadership is always the one noticed majorly by most people. This is because these are the people who interact with the citizens freely and socially. In the federal government, the executive powers are vested with the president majorly. This is because he is the most powerful, and he is at the top of organizational leadership. He is the head of state and the commander in chief. In collaboration with the Congress, which is the central governing council of the United States, he makes sure that the union is protected and that whatever laws and orders passed by the Congress are followed to the latter. In the state of Nevada, the executive branch is responsible for carrying out laws made by the legislature. Other types and extensions of the executive in the form of Nevada are the county administration.

The executive is elected into their respective positions by the people of the area a person represents. This is even though Congress can select the president in case of a tie. The order of power in the federal executive government is that the president is the most powerful, vice president, and Congress speaker. In Nevada, the governor is the chief executive of the state, and under him, there is the lieutenant governor and the secretary of state (The White House. (n.d.).

The legislative arm of the government is involved with the process of making laws. The Nevada constitution limits the number of legislators to 75 maximum. The legislature is involved in the making and amendment of laws. Therefore this group of people is the ones who run the country, and they make the laws that are appropriate for the life of the people they represent. Therefore most of them are elected to their various positions, which they hold, and therefore they must work and make decisions for the sake of the citizens who voted for them. At the national level, Congress is the final body for sensitive and very important decisions to be made. Therefore, this body comprises representatives from the areas they represent and all kinds of people; then there is a trust that what is to be decided in the Congress will be at the best desire and wish for the person doing it. In Nevada, the legislature is also of great significance as it makes laws that the people abide by, and they are meant for the good of society and not its destruction.

The two constitutions are almost similar in so many different and varied ways. These constitutions upon which the order of people and goods and other aspects of life are controlled, and we learn that it is essential. The two constitutions are both weak and healthy as well. One of the weaknesses of the constitution of Nevada is that the amendment process is always affected by political issues, and therefore it becomes challenging to deal with this. Other challenges include vagueness, equality, the imperial president, etc. One of its strengths is that the bill of rights, principles, and amendment processes. These make a person obey the law since they know what is stated in the law does not change. The federal government constitution is good but at the same time limiting, therefore encouraging people to make sure their friends were okay (Cherry, 2012).

In conclusion, we can say that both constitutions have had a lot of positive life due to their making and focus. The Nevada constitution is referred to as the summary and analysis of the federal government’s constitutions, and therefore they are both of equal importance. The federal government’s constitution has a lot of volumes, therefore in the daily lives of the citizens of the united states. This is similar to Nevada, which has a particular concern for the welfare of its residents.
