The Tea Party and Abortion Status on Political Level

The National Tea Party

The tea party is a group which boasts of its in-depth American spirit and the ability to challenge the status quo as they stand for American values which the founding fathers had 240 years ago when the nation was founded (Tea Party, n.d.). It is founded on the few members who tried to challenge the status quo in 1773. The current president of the tea party is Steve Eichler J.D.

The group depends solely on donations as their source of income and donations are open throughout. it has a section whereby members are requested to pray for trump. there are hashtags stating stop the coup, I stand with Texas, trumps fight for justice, patriot wall of resistance among other activities. According to open secrets, during the year 2018-2017, the tea party raised $4,366,348 in total and $4,426,823 was spend. The group supported 10 republican candidates that won (Tea Party, n.d.). Some of the candidates who were being supported include; Nicholson, Kevin, Brooks, Mo, Roy, Chip, Cruz, Ted among others. The group was supporting a total of 25 republican candidates either to the house of representatives or to the senate, some won and some lost.

The Kraft Heinz Company

This is a food company in the United States which was formed as a merger between kraft foods and Heinz. Its headquarters are in Chicago and it is the 3rd largest food company in the north America. It is therefore a very successful food company.

The company gets its profit mainly through profits, however at times there are individual doners for example 2019-2020 they got donations of around $126,098. It supports both democrats and republicans. The company contributed $138,500 to politics and of this amount 53.43% went to democrats while 46.57% went to republicans.

Democratic Party

Democratic party stands for progress and fighting for justice for every person in the United States. The party believes that it is up to the people to decide what they want and therefore what the people want is what the democratic party believes to be true. Unlike republicans, democratic party is welcome to change and is it the party which can be believed to have brought the major changes in the United States since its foundation as it welcomes change and allows people to go the way that makes them better and happpier. One of the major issues which has been debated for a long period of time is the pro-abortion state of the democratic party. This means that democrats support abortion which is safe and does not put the mother in danger (Where we stand – Democrats, 2019).

The main way the party achieves pro-abortion America is by campaigning and making sure more democrats are elected into office. With more democrats into office, it becomes easier for them to use their platform and create laws which protect pro-abortion notion. Aprt from bringing in more democrats into office they support organizations which are involved with the abortion services and makes sure that the services are safe and good for every person to engage in. this way the democrats portray abortion as a very good and fancy practice which has no evil inclinations. Some of the organization which offer abortion and are supported by democrats include naral pro-choice America which is one of the largest providers of abortion care for women who do not want to be mothers yet. The other organization is planned parenthood. During the time of Obama, there was a lot of expansion of abortion services but that declined with trump as he is a republican.

Republican Party

On the other side republican party supports the protection of life and it is generally pro-life. This means that it is against abortion even if the abortion is safe. This is because as it states it stands for the values of the founding fathers of the country and change which goes against these values is not the right change. Therefore, changes such as allowing abortion are not welcome and that is why the Texas law against abortion is a big move for the republicans as they want to see more and more of these rules being enacted and throw away abortion which they believe violates the very spirit of the founding fathers of the nation. The state of Texas declared abortion illegal after six weeks and this for most Americans especially the democrats is making the women not express their rights and get access to abortion services. However, the firm believer of republicans is that, with these types of laws the country will be a safe place and genocide in the name of abortion will not be tolerated.

The republicans support the Judeo-Christian way of life which was practiced and approved by the founding fathers of the United States of America. With this faith and practice it becomes very difficult for them to accept abortion since it goes against the very will and teaching of Christianity to defend life at all costs. The other things that the republicans are involved in apart from defending the human life is care for the environment. This is because environment is a very important part of nations growth, developing and to act as an example to the entire world for them to follow in the footsteps of united states in caring for the common home earth.

The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, mental illness is a health condition that affects a person’s thinking, emotion, and behavior. This results in individuals making haste and unthought-of judgments which put others or the individual at risk. In the Tell-Tale Heart, Edgar Allan Poe uses allegory, symbolism, and imagery of an unnamed narrator to defuse the actions and explanations of mental illness. According to the World Health Organization (27), statistics show that almost ten percent of the human population has mental issues, therefore making mental health a matter of interest that should be addressed. The anonymous narrator remains an unreliable narrator. The narrator is irrational and mentally unstable. In the Tell Tale Heart we can see, “I did for seven long nights—every night just at midnight.” (Poe) The narrator is not logical, invading the old man’s room as he sleeps. The narrator starts by taking care of an older man with an evil eye. Later, decides to kill the older man, and in the end, the narrator’s guilt became unbearable, leading him to surrender to the officers.

In the Tell-Tale Heart, Edgar Allan Poe uses the allegory of an unnamed narrator to defuse the actions and explanations of mental illness. Poe uses inconsistent statements throughout the story, which points to vagueness and questions the story’s credibility. Such inconsistencies point to the narrator’s struggle with the evil that is bedridden in his character and the fears that the narrator is experiencing. For instance, the narrator endeavors to explain what happened with the body of the older man, the narrator says that there was no stain of anything, and the body was carefully placed in the underneath of the floor. The narrator assumes that the body of the older man is undetectable. The three police officers would easily detect the smell of a dead body at the crime scene. The narrator also lost control of himself when he heard steadily increasing noises. He became paranoid and began to claim to have heard, “groan of mortal terror… that arises from the bottom of the soul.” There is no way one can listen to death since death cannot speak. The above examples can show inconsistencies of the allegorically used to show the mental state of the narrator. The killing of the older man does not have a clear justification. The narrator has no reason but imaginary illusions, which only people with mental illness experience. As previously mentioned above from the illustrations, we can conclude that the narrator would have Psychosis. Another example proving this Poe mentions “but the noise steadily increased.” (Poe) The speaker was under the assumption the heartbeat of the older man could be heard aloud. People are suffering from Psychosis experience, possessiveness, overestimation, over-confidence, hallucination, and delusions, according to Garret (Garret 192).

In the Tell-Tale Heart, Edgar Allan Poe uses the symbolism of an unnamed narrator to defuse the actions and explanations of mental illness. The story uses body parts and other items to symbolize the state of the narrator. “First of all I dismembered the corpse.” (Poe) The speaker killed the older man because of the evil eye. Sometimes, these symbols represent the narrator rather than the older man. The eye of the old man is unique; the narrator refers to it as a “vulture eye.” The vulture is known to feed on the carcass, dead flesh. The evil eye can represent a feel of being watched and can come off as preying and death. This explains what happens in the story, the narrator preys on the older man, and the older man is dead. The eye symbolism reveals the behavioral nature of the narrator, which is quite different from the average person. The eye begins to agitate the narrator, and the narrator starts to compartmentalize how he wants to deal with the situation. The narrator sees the eye as evil. What perplexes the reader is why the narrator killed the older man instead of the eye. This can possibly explain the mental state of the narrator; he took the life of the older man instead of the eye. The heart symbolizes conscience and emotions. As mentioned before, Poe states “but the noise steadily increased” to prove the speaker was going insane because of the sound of the heartbeat. The narrator believes that the older man’s heart is beating loudly; it can be it was his heart beating, making him confess the murder. The narrator’s spirit was symbolically haunting him to acknowledge the killing so that the older man’s heart can rest in peace. The narrator begins to hallucinate ringing bell, it rings louder and even louder. The guilt that the narrator is feeling symbolically ties to the torture of his soul. Symbolism in the text helps to expose the narrator’s behavior and his heinous act of murder.

The imagery of the Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe reveals the suffering of the narrator according to his revelations in the story. The way the narrator describes these images show the instability of his mental cognizant. For instance, the narrator says, “the disease had sharpened his senses…not destroyed… not dulled them.” The narrator believes that his sensory have been made sharper, but as we know, diseases weaken the sensory system. This imagery helps to unravel the mental health of the narrator. The narrator also speaks of how he undid the lantern each night cautiously. “Cautiously…Oh, so cautiously…Cautiously for the hinges creaked…he undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye.” (Poe) The narrator’s sentiment, “hinges creaked,” is auditory imagery. The narrator describes the sound and images with undiluted exactness; it is in his interest that the finer details is a question to ponder on.

In most cases, it is people with a given interest or with health issues that get concerned about the finer details. (Kidd et al. 109) In this case, the narrator’s interest in the finer details explains more than what meets the eye, given his behavior in question. The narrator quickly notes the thin ray of light across the darkroom. The narrator also describes the old man’s residence as “black as pitch with thick darkness.” This imagery helps the reader to create mental images of what exactly the room looked like. The images also reveal the darkness in the thoughts of the narrator and possibly explain why he took the step to kill the older man, according to (Kidd et al. 110).

In the Tell-Tale Heart, the narrator wrestles with insanity driving him or her to commit heinous crimes. The narrator tries to normalize his actions to hide his mental illness. “First of all, I dismembered the corpse.” (Poe) Looking at the older man’s abnormal eye caused the speaker to take death upon his or her own hands. They are deciding to kill an older adult. In conclusion, Edgar Allan Poe builds the thrill and tension causing the narrator to lose his or her mind. The mental health of the narrators had the readers in question. Had the narrator’s mental stability not been in question it would have not drive the narrator to take death into his own hands. Due to the mental instability of the narrator hearing sounds, he or she would have not surrendered to the officers as Brittan (54) notes that the three stylistic devices; imagery, symbolism, and allegory, were used effectively by the writer, Poe to unveil the mental issues that affected the narrator. The tools expose the narrator’s thinking and his evil plans. The writer also uses stylistic device to get to the readers to understand the mental state of the people who have a mental illness.

A Synagogue Service

A Synagogue Service

The existence of worship and ritual public spaces has been known for a long time. Evidence is obtained from the various temples and alters found in various parts of the world. The ceremonies and prayers, which take place in modern synagogues, use the latest physical structures. The religion of Judaism has a history rich in places that are memorable. In the United States, synagogues are referred to as temples. There are many followers of Judaism, and the number seems to grow at an extremely high rate.

The tabernacle is referred to as a centre whereby, public Jewish rituals took place. It is a structure, which resembles a large tent that existed for forty years in the desert. Furthermore, people used to carry it wherever they went. The menorah is a holy part of the tabernacle that housed the Ark of the Covenant. Only holy people were allowed to enter the menorah. One vital symbol that one cannot fail to notice is the candelabrum, which has seven golden branches. The latter is a symbol that is associated with Judaism (Barry, 2009.56).

Beit Knesset is a Hebrew word that has been translated into Greek to mean synagogue. Another term used to refer to a synagogue is the word ‘House of Assembly’. In a synagogue, various aspects of Jewish life are observed, as it is the centre of their lives. The aspects are spiritual, intellectual or social aspects of life. A synagogue must ensure that it faces the direction where Jerusalem is located. An image of an Ark exists, and it contains the Torah Scrolls. The latter are the Bible’s first five books, and are in a Hebrew script that is hand written. The books are of extreme relevance to followers of this religion, and they are highly regarded. Furthermore, the Torah has been hand written by a scribe. ‘Know before whom you Stand’ (Barry, 2009.67) are Hebrew words that are positioned above the Ark. Moreover, tablets exist on top of the ark and have some inscription of the Ten Commandments. Each of the first words contained in the commandments is found on the inscription. In the synagogue, there is an eternal light that hangs in the front side of the Ark. On the other side, a menorah is visible to all that enter the synagogue. It is a symbol that is found in every synagogue, in the world.

A ‘bimah’ exists at the synagogue’s center, and it is on a platform, which is raised. Also, there is a reading desk where the services instructions are conveyed to the congregation. The person providing the reading from the Torah must ensure that they face the Ark. There is a morning service that takes place on a daily basis. There are men who are in attendance, and they have shawls, which are uniform and similar. Four corners of the shawl used for prayer have fringes. The fringes are of Biblical importance as it is a commandment that the shawls have fringes. It is meant to have divinity purposes that men must always remember.

The seating arrangements in a synagogue dictate that women seat separately from men. There is a gallery located upstairs, and that is where the women are seated. Men are often distracted when they are praying and women are in their presence. In other synagogues that are conservative, women and men seat in the same level. Everyone in the congregation must ensure that they cover their heads, and this does not apply to young girls. There is a dividing structure, which is symbolic in nature. The congregation and the readers have different ways through, which they pray. It can be through singing of traditional melodies, chanting, are quiet recitals. There is no discrimination concerning who has the authority to lead and hold prayers. Any willing and able person can volunteer to lead the congregation in prayers. A rabbi is sometimes in charge of the service. There is a person in charge of sacred music due to their knowledge and voice. The person is known as a ‘cantor’ or a ‘chazzan’.

In a synagogue, there are three times that services are held on a daily basis. During the Sabbath, after the morning service, there is an additional service known as ‘Musaf’. The latter service also takes place during Thursday and Monday mornings. Most times, the prayers are recited in Hebrew, and English is also spoken. The Siddur is a book that contains the prayers that are recited at the synagogue. The prayers have to follow an order set out by the ‘Siddur’. Its history dates back to many years when the ‘Men of Great Assembly’ existed. They were involved in building a synagogue after they came home from exile. There has been integration of melodies and prayers, as this is a process of continuation by the liturgy. Furthermore, it is adapted from music and poetry from medieval Rhineland and Spain (Barry, 2009.84).

During the end and start of service, God is praised by making his attributes known through singing. At every stage, of the service, blessings must be mentioned, and this is vital in the worship. For example, when a fallen star has been witnessed, gratitude has to be expressed. Simple things, which other people might ignore, such as viewing a rainbow are a reason for praising God. Psalms is another aspect of the service whereby, prayers are based on the scripture of Psalms. In Jewish belief, ‘Shema’ is a key aspect and it has to be recited. It is referred as a statement that is vital in Judaism. In the book of Deuteronomy, the Shema recitation is found as well as in the book of Numbers. At night and in the morning the Shema must be recited (Hayes, 2011. 7).

A silent prayer known as the ‘Amidah’ is recited when one is standing. It is meant to ensure that God blesses the person nineteen times and is referred to as a petition. There are various paragraphs that exist, and they have different blessings. The members of the congregation must recite the ‘Amidah’ while the reader chants it. An example of the chant is “holy, holy, holy is the lord of hosts: the whole world is full of his glory” (Hayes, 2011. 9). Every Thursday and Monday, as well as on festivals and the Sabbath, the Torah has to be read. During the additional and morning service, a sermon has to take place. This is also witnessed during festivals, fasts and Sabbaths. Other times, readings are obtained from the ‘Haftarah’ and the Torah. The ‘Musaf’ is a service that is similar to an Amidah. Afterwards, there is a Kaddish, which is known as a prayer of sanctification. It normally takes place when there are recitations and mourning in the synagogue. It is meant to ensure that God’s attributes are celebrated.

At the synagogue, there are hereditary priests that perform a ceremony meant to bring blessings. In Ashkenazi synagogues, during fasts and festivals the ceremony is performed. On the other hand, in Sephardi synagogues, there is a daily occurrence of the ceremony. Priests chant statements that are meant to bless the congregation. Furthermore, they are situated at the Arks front, raised on a platform and are covered with prayer shawls. Lastly, a party is held at the end of service, and this is extremely customary. The congregation takes wine as they bless their Sabbath.

In conclusion, observing the service that occurs at a synagogue is extremely compelling. When compared to the readings provided in class, the observation provides more useful information. This is because one has a personal experience with this religion. Judaism has many rituals that have to be followed, and this enhances ones faith. People tend to follow religions, which are practical, such as Judaism. One hardly hears that people from this religion are involved in crime. The religion is similar to Catholic Christianity in some aspects, but indeed the experience at the synagogue was memorable. Any person who has an interest in religion should take time and visit a synagogue. They will find out how people from other religions carry out their services as compared to theirs.

A tale of two cities

A tale of two cities is a novel depicting the lives and times of the people of France during the reign of King Louis xvi. It is a period that was marred with extensive suffering as the aristocrats ruled with an iron fist subjecting the masses to untold suffering. The novel’s setting is before, during and after the French revolution which saw very many people lose their lives. Charles Dickens is trying to use the events that occurred in France to warn the people of England especially the ruling class of an impending danger. His sample I would say is very sufficient as some measures were actually taken to avert in revolution in England.

Charles Dickens gathers information from the occurrences of the French revolution to try and convince the reader that the same fate can become of England if appropriate and necessary actions are not taken. He uses both inductive and deductive reasoning in his 45 chapter novel to try and bring his message to light. Deductive reasoning involves trying to get at a certain conclusion by making generalizations heading to a conclusion of the specific while inductive reasoning involves studying the specific events first and generalizing from the same (Rudinow& Barry, 2008).

In his case, Dickens took the events that were occurring in France to convince the nobles and the ruling elite in England that England was not immune to the France’s fate. He continually compares the living conditions of the people in England to those of the people in France. There is no much difference in his comparison leading him to generalize that the safe fate could affect England as there were no significant differences between the two countries. He uses deductive reasoning to prescribe a way in which England could avert the fate of France as he loved his country very much.

In my case, I usually use deductive reasoning where I first concentrate on the general occurrences before making conclusions with the specifics. This ensures that I do not miss out on any information.
