Prayer in Schools
I chose Prayer in Schools because our country needs to go back to following God’s commands and because this is a touchy topic nobody really wants to talk about. I know sometimes I don’t want to talk about it, but it needs to be discussed. This country has been trying to take God out of the schools for a while now. From omitting " one nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance to prayer in school. People should have the right to pray. I have a relationship with God through prayer.
The meaning of Social Justice is the view that every student and anyone else deserve equal opportunities. This also includes students who want to give praise to God. There are several historical events on prayer in schools. L learned in the 19th century that Catholic students and religious students were spanked for participating in Bible reading and prayer. In 1962 Township School District v. Schempp, courts stated that school prayer and Bible reading were violations of the First amendment. The first amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religious expression and the right to petition. What this means is that the United States Court removed prayer from all public schools. Private schools don’t fall under this ruling. A supporting argument for prayer in school is a part of a building block to help children’s moral character. Since prayer has been taken out of school, crime rates have increased. Some people, as a religious matter, believe that prayer is appropriate in public settings and institutions, including schools ( Smith, 2022). without prayer, the world is upside down, so many wars, divided religious groups, etc.
In the future, I don’t see things getting better lot of people have already lost their faith, we have a school shooting are at an all-time high, and prayer in religion will not be able to discuss anywhere. After over fifty years, the underlining school prayer decisions is still unsettled (Marshal, 2018). It’s a possibility that the world was better before 1962. What I know is prayer changes things, and prayer never hurts anyone prayer needs to be in school.
My first article, Prayer in Public Schools, talks about issues and questions regarding prayer in public schools. Prayer has been voted out thof the public schools for over 50 years. https://www.adl.org/education/resourcesThe second article Does Prayer Have any Place in Public Schools? This second article is about a coach who was told to stop praying after a game publicly. https://www. cnn.com By Ariane de Vogue June 27,2022. The courts ruled against him praying after the games. A lot of people are for him, but you have a lot of people against him too. In the third article Trump Defends School Prayer. Trump stated people should never stand between God. If people want to pray in public, it should be fine. https://www.washingtonpost.com by Moriah Balingit and Ariana Eunjung Cha Jauary 16,2020
