My first time with Malaria

My first time with Malaria

In many cases, bad condition in one’s health cannot be anticipated. Once it has occurred, the patient tries to understand the cause of the condition. If the symptoms seem to be beyond the patient’s control, the patient heads to a health professional that is expected to make the condition better. Due to congestions in hospitals and past experience, getting a good and encouraging service from some doctors is a surprise, like the one I got.

It was on Monday morning when I woke up as usual ready to attend my lectures. I stood up and felt some kind of tiredness in the whole of my body. I just thought it was the famous Monday blues. I just recalled the football game that we played on Sunday with my friends and related my feeling with it. I took it simple and expected that it would end after a while. I took a hot-water shower. I struggled to do my activities that morning. I could tell that that day I was going to be late for the lecture. I also did not enjoy my breakfast as I had always been.

The breakfast brought all the difference. I felt something that I had never felt there before. My body was jam-packed with fatigue; I had a severe headache and nausea. I had to change my mind and forget about the lecture. I explained to my parents about it and they immediately organized a taxi to take me to the hospital. We reached the hospital and on setting his eyes on me, the doctor ordered for immediate treatment. He took me to his consultation room and asked me about how I feel. As I was explaining to him, I felt like I could jump and take one of the medicines I could see a round.

He listened to me attentively and asked me whether there was any detail that I could have forgotten, but there wasn’t. The doctor then explained to me what such symptoms implied. He approved some medical examination to be done to me. He told me that according to what I told him, I had symptoms of malaria. So I was tested for malaria, and the results indicated that I had malaria. Without wasting time, I was given prescriptions, and I was on my way back home. The doctor said that I should get back after three days so that he could examine my progress. I really enjoyed the service.

This incident was very critical to me because I had not experienced such a feeling in my life. I just thought that I was going to spend some nights in the hospital. All through the feeling I was thinking about the cause of such a feeling. I thought it was just fatigue due to the previous day’s football game. I could also think about a snack I took from one of the shops around where I live. I thought of so many causes including taking contaminated water, but none was true. This was because it was my first experience with malaria. Despite my poor condition, I was very impressed by the actions of the doctor who took the matter very seriously and served me. Even though it looked like it was a very simple task to me, he taught me a lot of lessons in the medical field.

From this experience, I realized that a doctor should serve a patient with a kind heart like the doctor did to me. In the future, I found that the patient needs to be given enough time to explain what they feel. By doing this, I, as a doctor, will be in a position understand the actual problem with the patient. Again as a health professional, I learnt that the doctor should not assume the ailment and conclude that it is a particular one without testing it. Being friendly to the patient helps the patient to feel at ease. Good service will forever be remembered, and inspire the upcoming professionals.

How does the location of muscle in an animal affect your choice of cookery method for the preparation of a dish? How does this affect economic aspects in commercial cookery?

The tongue – is made of pure muscle and is very tough. Boiling and braising are popular cookery methods

The neck – contains a lot of connective tissue and the muscles are used quite often. Braising and stewing is often used to allow the collagen to break down and intensify the flavours.

Front leg shin – the shanks are in constant use, so the muscle tends to be dry, tough and sinewy. It can be used for soups and stews, as well as for ground beef which is the grilled.

Back – the tenderloin and striploin cuts are among the tenderest cuts of beef, as the muscles do not do much work. Tender and fatty cuts of meat are suitable for dry cookery methods such as grilling and roasting

Tail – quite tough and sinewy as the muscle is being used constantly. Boiling and stewing are the most appropriate methods of cookery for this.

What is the correct procedure for preparing and cooking pulses?

Procedure:

Combine pre-soaked* pulses with water and seasonings in a large cooking container or heavy saucepan. If available, you can add 5mL (1 tsp) of oil to prevent foaming.

Use a large saucepan or cooking container, as pulses double or triple
in volume during cooking. (Dry pulses will yield approximately 2-3 times their original amount when cooked.)

Bring water to a boil, cover tightly, reduce heat and simmer until pulses
are just tender and not mushy.

Simmer pulses slowly as cooking too fast can cause them to split or break open.

Guidelines for cooking times will vary with the type and age of the pulses,
as well as with the altitude and the hardness of the water.
Follow the instructions on the package for best results.

Tasting is the best way to check if pulses are done. Cooked pulses are tender, have no “raw” taste, and crush easily in your mouth.

Why is teamwork important in a commercial? Provide examples for typical communication requirements to ensure efficient preparation, cooking and service of food items:

Importance of teamwork

Being part of a team and supporting other team members raises the whole team productivity level. Team work can help achieve tasks a lot more quickly and efficiently.

Examples for communication requirements

You may need to talk to colleagues in other sections as well. For example, if you are preparing the vegetables for the main course, then you should talk the saucier about how the dish will be presented, so that you can prepare the vegetables correctly. Likewise, you may offer to do the chopped parsley for the entire kitchen and may receive other mise en place items in return, to streamline the production process.

Choose any two chapters of Sandel’s book and provide no less than three thoroughly discussed examples per chapter of how the market economy influences moral norms and values.

What money can’t be purchased by Michael Sandel’s is worthy of notice for the teacher’s technique used. Instead of analytical analysis, Sandel advances his thesis. This procedure seems to compel readers to encounter a series of circumstances in which consumer values have become part of their lives in a way that is morally unacceptable to many. He has tattooed ads on his forehead and charged place holders to discourage him from having to sell human organs for long hours. Sandel states that we never had a proper discussion on the relationship between market-related moral, political, and economic concerns. The Italics are Sandel’s, the only authorial italics in the novel, but he blurs the strength of his views by using the unsound “we” as his focus. “Without realizing anything, without ever deciding to do it, we’ve moved from having a market economy to becoming a market society.” His theme as an integrated community isn’t a personal “we,” The argument is that we have changed from a consumer economy society to a market societyADDIN CSL_CITATION {“citationItems”:[{“id”:”ITEM-1″,”itemData”:{“DOI”:”10.1080/17496535.2014.956986″,”ISSN”:”1749-6535″,”abstract”:”In What Money Can’t Buy, Sandel examines one of the biggest ethical questions of our time\r\nand provokes a debate that’s been missing in our market-driven age: What is the proper role\r\nof markets in a democratic society, and how can we protect the moral and civic goods that\r\nmarkets do not honour and money cannot buy? The key lack of discussion on the role and scope of markets is in contemporary politics. Are we interested in a capitalist economy or a market society? In public life and personal relations, what role should markets play? How should you decide which items should be purchased and marketed and which non-market principles should apply? Where is money not supposed to run? Even if you believe we can deal with major market moral problems, you might have concerns about the role of our public discourse. This is a valid cause of concern. At a time when the policy debate consists mostly of yelling cable TV matches, political vitriol on talk radio, and congressional ideological food wars it is difficult to imagine a reasoned national dialogue about contentious moral issues like the best way to value child-rearing education, health, the environment, citizenship, and others. I assume that such a discussion is possible, but only when we can expand our public dialogue and engage in conflicting principles of good life more directly. Sandel opens a catalog of things to be purchased in America at least – from predictable (privileged health care access), to bizarre (penitentiary upgrade), to literally obscene (the right to kill an endangered animal). He argues that we lose track of why certain things shouldn’t be in a world where everything can be purchased and sold. In the end, it is a type of corruption that undermines everything including sex and even friendship and loveADDIN CSL_CITATION {“citationItems”:[{“id”:”ITEM-1″,”itemData”:{“DOI”:”10.1080/13563467.2012.647764″,”ISSN”:”13563467″,”author”:[{“dropping-particle”:””,”family”:”Anderson”,”given”:”Elizabeth”,”non-dropping-particle”:””,”parse-names”:false,”suffix”:””}],”container-title”:”New Political Economy”,”id”:”ITEM-1″,”issue”:”2″,”issued”:{“date-parts”:[[“2012″]]},”page”:”239-242″,”title”:”Why Some Things Should Not be for Sale: The Moral Limits of Markets: Debra Satz”,”type”:”article”,”volume”:”17″},”uris”:[“http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=6075a7ff-b330-3793-bd8e-1900856593e1″]}],”mendeley”:{“formattedCitation”:”(Anderson)”,”plainTextFormattedCitation”:”(Anderson)”,”previouslyFormattedCitation”:”(Anderson)”},”properties”:{“noteIndex”:0},”schema”:”https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json”}(Anderson).

When the markets are no longer inert, the dilemma is further aggravated. Commodification creates greater inequality and greater corruption opportunities, not only by prizing goods but also by shifting attitudes to certain types of goods. The book indicates that if social goods markets are not more inert, some positive elements in life will be compromised, their moral worth will be reduced, and the survival of a proper society will be threatened. In essence, this increases the need to look closely at these commodities and try, without depriving them of their political and moral importance, to find new ways to value them. A debate about the moral limits of markets will allow us as a society, to determine when and where the markets serve the common goodADDIN CSL_CITATION {“citationItems”:[{“id”:”ITEM-1″,”itemData”:{“author”:[{“dropping-particle”:””,”family”:”Satz”,”given”:”Debra”,”non-dropping-particle”:””,”parse-names”:false,”suffix”:””}],”id”:”ITEM-1″,”issued”:{“date-parts”:[[“2007″]]},”title”:”LIBERALISM, ECONOMIC FREEDOM, AND THE LIMITS OF MARKETS*”,”type”:”report”},”uris”:[“http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=4489450a-bb0c-32b7-b36f-33f5d1ee0049″]}],”mendeley”:{“formattedCitation”:”(Satz)”,”plainTextFormattedCitation”:”(Satz)”,”previouslyFormattedCitation”:”(Satz)”},”properties”:{“noteIndex”:0},”schema”:”https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json”}(Satz). When we understand the proper position of markets, we must address the best way to appreciate social products in public together. It would be naive to anticipate that a public dialogue that is much more moral, at its finest, would lead to an agreement on any contentious topic. However, this will make public life better. And that would make us more conscious of the price we pay to live in a society where all is on saleADDIN CSL_CITATION {“citationItems”:[{“id”:”ITEM-1″,”itemData”:{“DOI”:”10.1057/9781137472748.0007″,”ISBN”:”9781137472748″,”author”:[{“dropping-particle”:””,”family”:”Skidelsky”,”given”:”Edward”,”non-dropping-particle”:””,”parse-names”:false,”suffix”:””}],”container-title”:”Are Markets Moral?”,”id”:”ITEM-1″,”issued”:{“date-parts”:[[“2014″]]},”page”:”77-102″,”title”:”The moral limits of markets”,”type”:”chapter”},”uris”:[“http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=b1138f04-c4f3-353c-abf0-47cde7e9da45″]}],”mendeley”:{“formattedCitation”:”(Skidelsky)”,”plainTextFormattedCitation”:”(Skidelsky)”,”previouslyFormattedCitation”:”(Skidelsky)”},”properties”:{“noteIndex”:0},”schema”:”https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json”}(Skidelsky).

My Five Years Plan

Executive Summary

The following outline/ specifications discusses on the destiny of my career. My career finance and accounting suits my dreams of becoming a stockbroker. In relation to this, I have been pursuing goals, which are proactive enough to respond to demands of my career. It should be noted that this field have recently been invaded by unaccountability. Investors lose confidence and this results to massive withdraws and liquidation of shares. The volatile activities associated with this amounts to bad economic times. In the year 2009, Americans were hit by the worst economic recession in over twenty years. Recession leads to the loss of jobs, and investments. For this reason, I desire to pursue this field in order to achieve my intrinsic objectives in life of a society, which is free, and fare to its occupants.

After graduation

Soon after graduation, I see myself in the free service to a major stockbroker located in our city. The stockbroker has recently enlisted newer companies as part of the client and its reaching out to find more investors. The new team of marketers and brokers’ promises the company new prosperity in relation to financial security. For this reason, the accounting department will be overwhelmed by work and this will amount to increased in the number of potential activities. As a result, I have derived of transaction that I will be tackling. I have majored in finance- accounting option. My activities will include, attending to financial, policy and legal questions affecting the company. Secondly, I will be attending meeting and specifying what the company is required to do in the next two, to three decades. Thirdly, I will be involved in budgeting team and meeting internal and external parties. Finally, I will analyze reports and sample projects, which affect my department (Conford, 2014, pp. 180).

For this reason, I will be required to develop personal goals and objectives. My personal goals are my vision, and mission for the stockbrokerage company. Firstly, I would prefer to make the organization the best in terms of efficiency. This will involve treating of clients on priority basis. In addition, I will endeavor to make this organization the most successful in terms of sales and clientele base. Secondly, I would prefer to make the accounting department the lead department in terms of quality. For this reason, I would endeavor to offer my services to the department all geared towards achieving positive goals.

In relation to this, I would bring new ideologies to this field. Stockbrokerage has recently adopted a collective I.T strategy. Lead companies; for instance, NASDAQ has been enrolling proactive I.T goals all expected to respond directly to the success of the organization. Following the successful integration of I.T in the stockbrokerage, accounting problems have been trivialized. However, this multi-level success has structurally been responsible in ushering in a culture of newer problems. Critical problems integrated with accounting are lack of proper transparency. Stockbrokerage firms have been criticized with one of the worst fraudulent activities. For this reason, potential investors prefer to trade alone for fear of losing the real investment capital to brokerage firms. As part of the service to this industry, I am hoping to bring accountability by ensuring that companies publish the appropriate financial statements.

Five Years from now

My career prospects in relation to this industry have been centered in making the industry authentic for the general investor base. Invest should be assured of profits and stable economic times since lack of investors’ confidence can lead to massive withdrawals. Consequently, investors withdraw can lead to punitive financial times, for instance, the 2009 economic recession (Weale, 2009, pp. 4). However, it is lucid to note that the industry has a derived capacity of employing a large workforce and consequently inviting better and more transparent system. For this reason, I consider this industry a success and fortune to most companies and investors for allocating funding for projects. Although much of the systems in relation to stockbrokerage are already in place, it cannot be ignored that critical change should be done to limit the potential losses, and loss of hope characterized with this industry. This industry is one of the first growing in the finance sector. The reason is that, the complexity of the industry limits the overall external competition. Secondly, the industry by far larger controls and reflects the market situation. For this reason, the industry will change and change positively for the greater good of markets. Currently, lead companies, for instance, NYSE and NASDAQ are pursuing web application to ensure that users can access their accounts at a remote location. In relation to this, it is notable that web-application seems lucrative to the development of this industry as compared to the telephone calls which were not clear from back office operations.

Based on this, it is positive to note that in five years time I will be making progress into my career as one of the lead actors. Following the radical changes in the I.T industry courtesy of mobile app development and web-internet technology, it is positive to note that the industry will have taken a higher gear in relation to the development. In particular, the app development should take a higher face in interpreting information. The major problem in stockbrokerage is lack of investors’ confidence (Sap and Yan, 2003, pp. 225). For this reason, investors attempt to withdraw in drowns once they detect a financial meltdown. The consequence massive withdraws is that deeper economic challenges are expected. Therefore, in five years times, I expect the I.T department will have realized these problems and consequently provided sufficient answers to quell these problems. Answers could attempt to breakdown the complex accounting arithmetic to simpler terms that investors can understand. Consequently, I expect that in five years, the legal department will have improved to permit a reaction against legal challenges In this case; policies should focus on the collective compensation packages and mitigation of deliberate financial problems.

Following the increased authenticity of stockbrokerage associated with proper orientation of I.T services, it is expected that stockbrokerage activities will expand to permit the inclusion of more investors. An increased number of investors will therefore translate to increased funding and consequently the expansion of stockbrokerage activities. Increased activities and funding will amount to the expansion of innovative terminologies involved in investing. For this reason, I prospect that in five years time, stockbrokerage will have improved and consequently accounting activities will prosper. For this reason, increased funding and investors will require more work forces. Therefore, the level of employment will automatically expand to permit for the activities in relation to the same.

Additionally, I will be expected to practice as an accountant-cum stockbroker. Since I intend to reach-out to the community positively, I have preferred to communicate stockbrokerage benefits to the public by assuming the role of accounting cum-stock broker. In particular, I have assessed consultancy as a lucrative involvement in the near future. However, I will apply consultancy back-to-back with accounting to ensure that I am at greater service to the community. My service will focus on advising investors on a possible investment stratagem. A critical consideration that I will focus on is improvising high-end communication skills either through use of website or mobile based application; for instance, whats up to communicate to the public a wide range of possible investments goals.

Marketable Skills

In relation to the nature of the industry, one will notice that there is a decisive need to development coherent marketable skills. For this reason, I plan to develop a desirable marketing campaign dubbed “putting your needs first.” This campaign will attempt to communicate the company goals of authenticity to the public and consequently implementing them based on the stratagem of promises. To achieve this campaign, I need to develop responsive marketing skills. Marketing skills in this case will seek to respond directly to the nature of stockbrokerage environment. Firstly, I will need to be an effective communicator in order to communicate the company goals to the investors and top organization. Secondly, I will need to posses superior organization development techniques with intent to achieve optimal organization policy goals.

However, these goals should be achieved by developing a proactive organization agenda. To ensure that I am more relevant to the organization, I will be required to firstly, develop superior communication techniques inside the college environment. This will require me to organize multiple debates in relation to organizational mentoring and consequently, build-up a reliable network one, which will respond directly to the needs of the organization. For this reason, I have scheduled myself an empowering program dubbed “here we develop”. The program will seek to adopt skills from the academia, and this can be reflected back to the program. Soon after the graduation, I will conduct a radical campaign, dubbed accountability for the greater good. This campaign will seek sponsors to fund a field campaign on the importance of investment in stocks as compared to savings and pensionable allowances.

My Future in Computer Science.

I have always loved the challenging concepts that make one reason and consult with team members for long periods of time that result in obtaining brilliant and excellent solutions that make systems to function properly and adequately. Computer science, software engineering and information systems are international qualifications that give every individual the ability to work globally and in a very broad variety of roles coupled with tremendous opportunities for growth and progress. Interest in Computer science fueled my desire to learn and to know more concerning the field. The more you conduct a research on a particular field, the more the desire to pursue it will grow as well.

Computer Science is a field that has also witnessed serious growth in this era and the growth and the expansion can be attributed to the technological advancements and innovations changing the computer science and information technology. Computer science is now alive and very present in the life of every individual especially through the technologies and advancements and innovations all around us. Computer science assists and enables systems and processes to run and to function smoothly. I would like to pursue it as a career because of the transformations it makes possible. Computer science aids and transforms health care and also enables and contributes towards a robust national defense. A career in computer science will play a central role and will also put me in the forefront of discovery and driving economic growth and transforming the lives of individuals.

Computer Science job responsibilities include being hired by the software and development firms and bearing the role and the responsibility of creating and formulating new theories especially around the development of technology. It is a diverse field that requires an individual to be quick, innovative and creative and to have the ability to work perfectly well. Research indicates that computer scientists are highly sought after individuals and as the technology keeps advancing and growing a career in computer science will be a good fit. It also important to recognize the role that being an excellent communicator plays when thinking about focusing on a career in computer science.

Computer science is interesting in the that it will offer the opportunity to work with the government on different spheres. It entails having the solid ability to be able to completely express the reality of the computer science world to individuals. Computer science is a great career because I personally want to change the world. We one stops to think about what will happen if the society stops innovating, the outcome will certainly be detrimental. Computer science has provided that technology is beneficial and very good if at all it is put on the right hands. Computer science also needs brilliance and ethics that will stimulate the understanding of the powerful technologies and to ensure they are used for good.

Striving to have a positive impact on society is what influences me the most to channeling my energy and effort to starting a career in computer science. Being a computer scientist entails, that one will come into direct contact with beneficial applications and system process that seek to address the problems being faced in the world today like unemployment, climate change as well as poverty. Putting that into consideration it is clear that a career in Computer Science will make it possible for me to work tirelessly to meet the needs of the populations and the society as a whole. (Teague, 2018).

Computer science is also seen as an important contributor and the biggest influence in the world of communication. Computer science has made it possible to share information and has also made the world a global village. The technological outcomes we enjoy today as individuals can only be attributed to Computer Science. A career in computer science is essential for me as it will give me the chance to do so well and to employ all the abilities that I possess together with the appropriate skill set that I also have. It is a field that has witnessed improvement and growth and it particularly important to be part of the revolutionized team and workforce and the career changing the lives of people. It is also enhanced and ass it keeps scaling it assists in solving challenges that could have otherwise been catastrophic. Computer Science systems can predict climates, seasons as well as human behavior and in return assist particular in preventing disasters and catastrophes. (Alshahrani, 2018)

The possession of excellent communications skills is important while taking a career in computer science. The career itself requires the sharing of results and findings of the conducted surveys and investigations in written journals and publications as well as through presentations to the boards and in other instances global platforms. Having appropriate communication skills will therefore assist in becoming better as well as scaling the career heights in computer science. Being accomplished in the computer science field is a gift. It requires working extremely hard as well as being on the know how always, growing, advancing learning more and obtaining mentorship from individuals who have performed extremely well and those that have gone before us in the field. (Alexander, 2011) Having the ability and the appropriate skills to solve complex and challenging technological problems is exciting and triggers the need to want to experience and be part of the team that contributes to success.

Computer science is a career that I would like to pursue because it speaks directly to the very fabric of my being and just being among a problem solving team is a great sight to behold. Computer science will also introduce me to artificial intelligence and computer programming. Through computer science we shall obtain skills necessary to advance and to do well in this life.

Introduction

The paper will also focus on explaining the analysis of China’s tensions between capitalism versus Socialism and the political reforms caused by China tension both capitalism and socialism and the expectation of china’s economy and politics in the future.

China tension Capitalism versus Socialism

China capitalism and socialism affected the market of china. The economic system development was aimed to achieve the goals of the china economic reforms. China’s communist state capitalism was conceived as a transitional stage which routed to socialism though different from the state capitalism. Capitalism tension was distinguished from slavery. China’s communist party led to replicating state capitalism’s construction viewed by the party and the government in control. Chinese view capitalism as a hierarchy in which parties and the government get mass of employment. The state capitalism described the system of reform for the western commentators. In socialism, the Chinese community retained the formal commitment party to achieve communism (Anshu, Lachapelle & Galway, 2018). The Chinese had a theory that stipulated the primary stage of socialism due to low wealth and the need to engage in economic growth. Socialism leads to the development of communist society as described by Marxists. China became capitalist due to the lack of political liberalization. Chinese socialism integrated the china global market economy through socialist market economy.

Political reforms caused by china tension on capitalism and socialism

Reform on margins where the Chinese government benefited from hindsight, thus transforming the economy and the political environment. The marginal power operated within the boundaries of socialism. In some cases, the Chinese government was happy as long as the margin did not threaten the party’s political power. The regional competition was also reformed in China through capitalism. The government failing to separate economic transition was the primary source of confusion (Mulvad, 2018). The Chinese communist party, having survived the political power, helped the country’s economy remain active. The marginal revolution created entrepreneurship and market forces when the Chinese government was saving the state economy.

The expectation of china’s economic and political future

In the future, China will gather its pace due to its economic growth aiming to recovery its rate. The economy in china aims at broadening its recovery through industrial output, where china’s communists want to reach a point of ramping supply (Chai et al., 2018). The country aims to encourage domestic tourists who will help in recovery and spend more money due to the government’s global restriction. In the future, China will face a lot of monopoly due to capitalism. Through monopoly power, the country will charge high prices to consumers. That supporting capitalism claims that capitalism gives economic freedom. Great terror is amongst the thing to expect in the future politics of China. The current president will face internal dissent that threatens his ability to remain in power. The difficulties of political sorting cause an intensifying suspicion. The great terror against a phantom menace will be compelled to transform into an extraordinary anti-corruption campaign to sustain the enemies. In the future, Beijing will turn Hong Kong into a Police state. Beijing feels compelled to use force to break the deadlock. Significantly increased repression in the mainland will flow s party authorities will go on high alerts for agitation, and a massive propaganda campaign will inundation in Chinese media.

China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan

Macau having been a colony of Portuguese means that there is a lot that has been borrowed from the Portuguese. This comes automatically as a lot of countries that have been colonized by another greater country tend to follow in the footsteps of that country. Therefore, Macau has Portuguese characteristics. When this is discussed in the view that Macau is now part of China it means that it has both the Portuguese side and the chinese side and these two can only be merged together and cannot exactly be separated. This means that the relationship between China and Macau going forward might be unpredictable or at the same time very good. It might be unpredictable when China realizes that Macau’s citizens do not actually follow the chinese culture and this might lead to unprecedent issues. On another hand China might decide to assimilate the Macau citizens and in the worst scenario China might separate itself from Macau however this is not very likely. On the good side China might actually appreciate the culture of the Macau citizens and welcome it as part of China’s global portrayal or face in the world.

Taiwan is economically and culturally stable. It has diplomatic relations with a lot of countries and China is opposed to this and it recognizes Taiwan as part of China. Culturally these two are different as Taiwan was under Japan and it has grown on its own into a full grown economically stable semi-independent state. Economically the two are stable as China is stable and Taiwan is stable even though China’s economy I far much bigger than that of Taiwan. In political state Taiwan wants to be independent but China continues to pressure Taiwan to unite with mainland China and be one greater China. This is not clear as Taiwan has not made its final decision but it might be possible to unite with China.

Choose one stanza from “Song of Myself” and discuss the political implications.Song of Myself is a poem by an American poet Walt Whitman that is published among other works in his work Leaves of Grass. The poem is filled with numerous, significant details, although this paper will look only at one of them found in the sixth stanza of the poem. The following is a section derived from the poem. It is the sixth stanza, which the first section of the paper will base its arguments on.

A child said what is the grass. Fetching it to me with full hands, How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any more than he.

I guess it must be the flag of my disposition, out of hopeful green stuff woven.

Or I guess it is the handkerchief of the Lord, A scented gift and remembrancer designedly dropt, Bearing the owner’s name someway in the corners, that we may see and remark, and say Whose?

Or I guess the grass is itself a child, the produced babe of the vegetation.

Or I guess it is a uniform hieroglyphic, And it means, Sprouting alike in broad zones and narrow zones, Growing among black folks as among white, Kanuck, Tuckahoe, Congressman, Cuff, I give them the same, I receive them the same.

And now it seems to me the beautiful uncut hair of graves.

Tenderly will I use you curling grass, It may be you transpire from the breasts of young men, It may be if I had known them I would have loved them, It may be you are from old people, or from offspring taken soon out of their mothers’ laps, And here you are the mothers’ laps.

This grass is very dark to be from the white heads of old mothers, Darker than the colorless beards of old men, Dark to come from under the faint red roofs of mouths.

O I perceive after all so many uttering tongues, And I perceive they do not come from the roofs of mouths for nothing.

I wish I could translate the hints about the dead young men and women, And the hints about old men and mothers, and the offspring taken soon out of their laps.

What do you think has become of the young and old men? And what do you think has become of the women and children?

They are alive and well somewhere, The smallest sprout shows there is really no death, And if ever there was it led forward life, and does not wait at the end to arrest it, And ceas’d the moment life appear’d.

All goes onward and outward, nothing collapses, And to die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier.

A child asks the narrator of the poem to explain what grass is (Whitman, 1955). To answer this question, the narrator has to use his own utilization of imagery and symbolism and his incapability to break down things to crucial principles. The bunches of grass the child is holding thus becomes a symbol of the nature of regeneration. Nevertheless, they also indicate or signify a common material that connects all the different individuals throughout the United States.

Therefore, one can view or understand grass as an excellent example or symbol of democracy, because it grows everywhere even on top of graves. In the era and age of civil war, the same grass reminds the author of the poem of graves (Whitman, 1955), and even though the graves hold dead people, grass does not discriminate as it grows even on their graves. This also points out to another implication that everyone will have to die eventually. The natural roots of grass or democracy, in this matter, also are mortal, and they are vulnerable to death whether, as a result, of bloodshed and killing found in warfare or because of natural causes. While in other cases Whitman succeeds in this kind of imagery and symbolism, in this case it troubles him a little. He says that he could be able to interpret or understand where the boundary of the difference that exists between saying nothing and covering everything starts or ends.

The difficult the author experiences in trying to explain to the child what grass is means that even he cannot describe the democratic nature fully and especially if he is explaining it to individuals who cannot quite understand or comprehend it. Democracy here is shown as a complicated and challenging issue that individuals have to see how it works, and observe it so as to understand it. The only thing the author can tell the child is that he sees and experiences grass or democracy in young women and men (Whitman, 1955), meaning that democracy can be present in all people.

The author then takes this metaphor explanation further by telling the child that even the grass that has died (Whitman, 1955), or democracy that has diminished and the one that is forgotten is part of the whole, and is not treated separately. The poem Song to Myself explores and balances the themes of collectivity and individuality as two essential components for democratic experiments in the United States. The sixth section of this poem, therefore, is one of the essential ones in the whole text. This is because grass here is used as a symbol of hope and democracy. The poem and the author most likely wanted to liken grass to democracy because just as grass reaches every part of the world, so does democracy. When allowed to grow, democracy expands and covers all people including men and women.

Describe Nietzsche’s epistemology and discuss possible political implications of such thoughtThe two fundamental notions and ideas in understanding epistemology and metaphysics of Nietzsche are the will to power and perspectivism. Perspectivism can be described as the view or notion that our understanding and knowledge are conditioned or determined by how we view it. Therefore, to see something, one must be in a certain time and in a particular place and view or see it from a certain perspective. One, therefore, cannot see s thing from any perspective all the time. Therefore, we cannot see the thing, but its perspective then knowledge only occurs within a certain perspective (Nietzsche, 1882).

For this philosopher, this destructs knowledge, as it is traditionally understood. Knowledge is only knowledge of the whole, not just some part of the whole, because seeing and understanding knowledge as such is illusionary and deceptive. Another perspective of this idea is that whatever knowledge we have is just and nothing else but human knowledge. This knowledge is conditioned by and based on our human faculties and human processes. This, however, presents a problem to Nietzsche. The issue with his perspectivism is that they conclude or derive from the fact that real knowledge is impossible and that humans only have and are left with only some parts of knowledge and not the whole knowledge (Nietzsche, 1882).

The other major part in the epistemology of Nietzsche is the will to power. Most his work is build around this idea. The will to power is generally a force within individuals that drives them to live and survive. People live and survive by forcing other individuals and reality to obey and succumb to their power. The will to power drives individuals to think about the others and the world in the way that they do. They subscribe order, meaning, understanding and knowledge to the world because of the will to power (Nietzsche, 1882). In a sense, the philosopher anticipates pragmatism.

In his view, truth is not what corresponds or goes in line with reality, rather what allows individuals to attain their power and goals. Reason, therefore, only represent the expediency of a particular species or race, their utility is their only truth. Reason, truth and knowledge have little to do with the real world. They only affect how well individuals and other species control others to survive. As the philosopher argues, the real world could be completely different from what our understanding and reasoning points out and from what our minds hold as the truth, however, this has little to do with anything. So long as truth and reason enable is to have control and power, which is still essential and relevant. The criterion of truth, thereby, resides in the enhancement of power feelings (Nietzsche, 1882).

In Nietzsche’s epistemology, the will to power indicates that real things are the things that people can have power over and the things that individuals do. The classical ideas of knowledge and truth, therefore, are ineffectual and passive. For Nietzsche, there are signs and meaningless of weakness. Strength comes in actively to create one’s reality world. One of the interesting things in this theory is that the philosopher takes all of reasoning and experience and claims that it does not lead to any sort of real or true world. Trust in reason and its functions and valuation of logic prove only its use in life (Nietzsche, 1882).

My favorite course topic was the Gender Wage Gap. I found the topic very interesting and educative as well. It enlightened me on some of the challenges that emerge from the gender wage gap. I learned that the gender wage gap, to an extend, is beyond women’s control. I felt like this chapter prepared me for my future as a woman. I intend to pursue a technical profession in the future. Going through this chapter was an eye-opener for me on what to expect in this labor market sector. It gave me a vivid understanding of how women are disadvantaged in the workforce compared to their male counterparts. The topic has equipped me with the right knowledge to apply in my career path in the future.
