Introduction The issue of sexually transmitted diseases is one of the significant challenges that affect young people, especially currently among universities and colleges; young people are having difficulty coping with the challenges and issues they face as sexually transmitted infections are on the rise. The major causes of this whole issue is being sexually active and sharing partners or having more than one partner. This can be said to be one of the major practices in most teenagers and young adults, and it is difficult to deal with the issue. This is because most of the teenagers are not open about what they go through. Therefore this research paper focuses on the challenge in finding the best way to deal with young people with a focus on sexually transmitted infections and how they can be treated or the spread to be stopped.

Challenges faced during research

There have been many challenges in researching the issue of sexually transmitted diseases among young people. It is an important area to venture into and try to bring solutions to the many problems that lead to many sexually transmitted infections. It is also essential to carry out tests and campaigns about it since the young people might respond to that better than just a friend of theirs researching about the issue for academic purposes.

One of the significant challenges was the unavailability of the young people for interviews or to answer the questionnaires. This was a big challenge as trying to get someone to answer the whole of the questionnaire was not easy as young people have priorities which to a certain degree might look misinformed. Therefore this was a challenge, but I did try to get several of the young people to fill in the questionnaires and avail themselves for the interviews. This challenge might have been related to the fact that the young people do not want to discuss about the challenges they face and how these challenges have affected them therefore decide to be silent and live with what the challenges bring to them.

The other challenge faced was the young people being selective on what they wanted to talk about since they felt differently about different issues. Therefore, to some extent, mostly whereby my friends were being interviewed, I tended to make sure they were entirely comfortable about what we were doing to help them give out the expected or required information without distraction. Another challenge faced was the shyness or the feeling that it was not the right thing to talk about a person’s sexual life, especially with a focus on sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore this is what led many people into being silent about the issue and most of these young people keep on suffering in silence.

Benefits gained

The completion of this research paper helped me understand and gain knowledge of the area I concentrated on. This means, therefore, I gained experience about the importance of talking and discussing the problems a person faces, especially if they are sexual related problems and if they are affecting the individuals mentally, physically, emotionally, and how they behave.

I also learned that the effects of the sexually transmitted diseases are far more than a person could imagine, and therefore it had to be addressed since it has always been seen as the tip of the problem and not the whole picture. Encouraging people to see the entire concept of sexually transmitted diseases, especially in colleges and universities, is essential. It helps them understand how these young people can be supported to remain healthy and away from such effects and risks of their lives.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I can say that even though the preparation of the paper was tiresome, it was worth the efforts and the time invested into it because it also helped me to learn a lot about the sexual behaviours and generally the lives of many students in higher institutions of learning. Therefore it is essential to address some lifestyles to curb challenges which come along the sexually transmitted infections and diseases.

Children’s Education Inequality

Children’s Education Inequality

One of the most profound issues affecting a majority of the developed countries is inequality in its education system, specifically for children at the beginning of their academic life. According to Burkam (2013), social background variations are an advantage to some and a severe disadvantage to other children as they begin their education journey. One of the main goals of education is to ensure that all students, regardless of their background, have equal chances at excelling. The success of a child in school is a primary determinant of how well they fair as adults, determining their college education, the professions entered, and the amount of pay they will receive. Gullo and Ammar (2021) found that more than 80% of individuals living in rich countries see education as an equalizer, yet understand that there exist disparities when it comes to schooling in low-income areas as compared to the high-income communities. In a UNICEF commissioned report, Chzhen et al. (2018) refer to the differences in accessing children education as an unfair start, citing inequalities and social background differences as the main cause for the issue. Education inequality is just one of the many ills plaguing societies that must be discussed from an objective point of view, requiring an evidence-based approach to mitigating the concerns that are only getting worse as the rich-poor gap widens.

In many people’s subconscious, improving a country’s financial resources is the most fundamental and effective way to eliminate educational inequality. However, is this really the case? In Chzhen et al. (2018), 41 countries are selected as samples, focusing on students’ preschool and primary and secondary education performance, with the results indicating that the so-called countries with high welfare and high GDP, such as New Zealand, have the lowest degree of equality in the education system; while the countries with a little “poor” in this report, such as the little-known Latvian and Lithuanian countries, have a wider popularization of preschool education, and students’ reading performance in primary and secondary schools is better than that in more developed countries. From these, there is an indication that high total value does not mean a high average value. Additionally, a high average does not mean that the distribution of this value is uniform. Therefore, even though these supposedly rich nations have high GDP compared to other nations, the wealth is not uniformly distributed and there exists severe income differences that translate to different social classes that are likely to affect the quality of education for children.

The UN report by Chzhen et al. (2018) advances the idea that it is absolutely unreasonable for a person to say that a higher total value means a more uniform distribution. The report finds that from a micro perspective, gender, immigrant background, mother tongue, parents and so on can all be potential influencing factors on a child’s education. It is worth noting that “parents’ income” is the most critical factor affecting their own educational opportunities. From a macro point of view, the more unequal the country’s income is, the more unequal the educational opportunities will be: with the rising gap between the rich and the poor in a country, the probability of children getting preschool education will become lower. The amount of resources available to parents from low income families is significantly reduced in comparison to what better-off families make. This means that “luxuries” such as pre-school education and private tuition and highly specialized schools are off the table for lower income earners. These subtle differences and affordability issues gives some children a disadvantage over others.

In a classical “rich getting richer and the poor becoming poorer”, the Matthew principle looks at accumulated advantage and how it leads to a widening of the gap between different social clusters such as the rich and the poor (Bakermans-Kranenburg, Van IJzendoorn, and Bradley, 2005). From the UN report by Chzhen et al. (2018), the Matthew principle is evident in the competition for resources and the distribution of interests. From a theoretical perspective, the accumulation of resources sounds as an easy process. However, it is a rigged process following the Matthew effect because the rich already have an advantage that they start off with plenty in resources and other assets. When you have a certain number of resources, you can invest them and generate more value.

In conclusion, the discussion looks at the issues affecting the developed countries regarding inequality in the education system, specifically for children at the beginning of their academic life. It establishes that not enough research has been conducted in an attempt to provide a viable solution. For the poor, they may need to spend more time and effort to get the same degree of resources as the “initial wealth”, which is already available to the rich. Like every other social concept, it is driven by the (un)availability of resources. The direct consequence is that some children have access to a better education system while others are forced by circumstances to make do with the bare minimum. Ultimately, the gap is likely to widen as the rich accumulate more resources and change the education structure when others catch up.

Thesis statement

The use of technology has had several impacts on the practice of healthcare. This statement is confirmed by the Children’s hospital of the Kings Daughters which have used the technology overtime to revolutionize the manner by which they offer their services to the children

The impacts have been felt on different fronts such as in the management of the employees, the organizational structure and the general ways of operations of the organization. This is seen in the services that are being provided and the manner and nature of the services. Technology has indeed contributed much in the revolutionizing the operations of the company in general (Burns 2009).

This presentation is aimed at breaking down the different aspects of the contribution of technology in the healthcare facility while at the same time taking into consideration the functions of the hospital prior to the introduction of the technology and after the technological introduction.

Introduction and abstract

Hospital was established in 1962

It deals mainly with children as clients

Had a total of 90 employees when formed

Dr. Melissa become the first director in 1962.

The Kings Daughter Hospital was established in the year 1961. Currently, it has been renovated and expanded and currently, it is one of the hospitals that currently provide extensive medical care to the children alone. They do this to all the children coming from different backgrounds. They do this without taking into consideration the ability of the families to make the necessary payments for the services that have been offered to them. The first children to ever get admitted to the hospital happened in 1961.

During that time, the hospital had a total of 90 employees. In the year 1962 William Selvey, the administrator of the hospital, and The King’s Daughter became accreditation by the Joint Commission. During that particular time, Dr. Melissa Warfield became the director of the hospital in charge of medical affairs and also acted as a physician in full-time basis. Currently, CHKD has had an increase in capacity from 88 beds to approximately 206 beds. The number of employees has also increased to 31000 employees.

This is the original image of the location of the hospital when it begun its operations. During this time, the amount of staff who were involved here were very few. It also offered very few services to the children. The number of the inpatient during this particular time was very low as compared to the current number. Here, although there was a use of technology, it was not done to a greater extent (Menon 2006).

This is partly attributed to the low number of staff and clients. The hospital at this time did not have a very comprehensive management structure due to the small size and operation base. The hospital also relied on some traditional methods of storing the information about their clients. They had no well coordinated ambulance system and emergency control system. They however concentrated much in the provision of their services to children alone especially those who could not get the services due to low income.

The structure represents the new building of the health facility. This clearly proves the changes that have been experienced by the health facility over time. It offers different services to the children coming from different backgrounds. As it stands, it has a high number of client base who depends on the services that they provide on a large scale. This is the main center where the administrators are also housed. It is here that most of the referrals are done and handled.

The hospital in its current state has a number of ultramodern facilities hence it offers different types of services to the clients who are in need of the services. The expansion in the facility has been attributed to the good management and continuous flow of loyal clients. Much of it has also been as a result of the efforts of the donors who have funded the different projects that have been initiated by the facility.

Impact of technology on delivery of healthcare services

Mainly positive

Improved the quality of life

Increase in the amount of dollars paid to government

Examples include the X-rays and the ultra sound.

Technology has to a greater extent impacted much on how the healthcare services are being delivered. It has had a lot of positive impacts on the delivery of these services. Some of the impacts include the following: the medical technology is indeed indispensable to the health of people and also improved their quality of life. It has also contributed to numerous amounts of dollars to the general economy of the country (DIANE Publishing n.d ).

There are some other greatest benefits that are brought by innovative technology to the healthcare provision when it comes to issues of the healthcare. The healthcare facility embraced the technological changes and hence improved the nature and quality of the healthcare service that they offer to the different members of the public. Some of them include the use of the x- rays and the ultrasound in detection of different problems that affecting the children as their clients.

Continuation

Increase in the imaging technology.

High demand of the MRI technologists and also the radiologists.

It has also fastened the way monitoring of patients.

One of the cases is the adoption of an electronic way of keeping the healthcare the increase n the imaging technology and the subsequently high demand have led to an increase in the demand for the radiologists and the MRI technologists. There are minimum invasive surgeries particularly in the cardiovascular and the thoracic surgeries are common in the recent years. There are developments of the better instruments and technologies have made surgeons in the hospitals to perform surgeries in ways that are minimally invasive (Menon 2006). This was not the case a few years ago.

The imaging technology has also fastened the way that the patients are able to be monitored. The monitoring takes a short period of time to reveal all the parts of the body that have been affected by the disease. This was an important milestone in dealing with different types of diseases which affect the children in different parts of the United States where the facility is located.

The picture shows an example of the use of technology in offering of medical services to different groups of patients. In it, a physician is seen directing the patient into the MRI machine. The machine has made it easier for the physicians to fully scan the body and to find out the general problems that are found in the whole body.

It has made the work simpler since the physician is in a position to effectively locate all the affected parts in the body of the patient using a computerized system. This makes it easier and faster for them to locate and subsequently diagnose the patient in an effective manner. This is one of the clear ways and evidences that technology have impacted in a positive way on the provision of the heath care services to the members of the public.

Keyboard and Stethoscope

The figure shows a picture of stethoscope and the keyboard. This is an attempt to give an explanation of the relationship between the work of the doctors and the technology. it shows that doctors can use the technology to represent the work that they are doing. The doctor has the ability of using the laptop to get information about the field that he or she is practicing.

They are also able to use the same avenue in reaching out to other different patients and to attend to their needs. The photo also shows how the use of the keyboard have revolutionized the operation of the healthcare facility since the employees are in a position to provide their services even beyond the organization through the use of Internet among other means. This is a clear proof of the revolution in actions and practice. The physicians have adapted to the change, and the change is benefitting them.

Impact on the employee performance

Ease the work of employees

Workers Identification

Ease of communication

Ease of sharing in the field of medicine.

The uses of technology have had a major impact on the performance of the employees in the healthcare organization. The use of technology has made the work of the employees to be easier. Technology has made it easy to manage the employees. Through the use of the electronic identification, it is usually easy to identify the employees who have arrived at the work place and their arrival time (Flary 2014). This has contributed much in ensuring that the employees are effectively monitored in the work places. The use of the technology has also ease communication between different groups of employees. The communication is usually in from of mails and telephone communication. This has made it easier to coordinate different services such as the calling of the ambulances when coordinating rescue and getting of the patients from their homes to the hospital facilities.

Different physicians can also be called in to attend to different situations easily by the use of the improved technology. This has made the works of the healthcare officers of providing and saving lives to be done easily and in an effective manner.

Made provision of services to many people

Publishing of the blogs and different platforms

Provided the different healthcare services to the entire population

Communicate with different groups of people.

Technology has also made it easier for the employees to provide their services to provide their services to different groups of individuals across the globe. Through the use of blogs and different other platforms, doctors have been in a position to publish different articles that relate to different groups of illnesses. They have also documented different actions that a person should take should they have the symptoms that have been described.

In this manner, they are able to extend their services beyond the hospital (Burns 2009). Technology has also made it easy for the employees to learn and get more information online. They are able to communicate with other groups of employees in the same field. The communication is made easy due to the fact that different physicians are able to share their experience and expertise to different groups of doctors after which, they will be able to learn from each other on the challenges that they face and how they handle their success.

Building of the capability and capacity

Improvement in the level of performance

Positive impact on the employees

Improved quality of services

In this manner, their capacity and capability are built to a greater extent hence improvement in their level of performance. In general, research has proved that the use of technology in the places of work have had many positive impacts which include the reduction in the stress on the side of the employees (Burns 2009).

It also has to a greater extent increased the level of the satisfaction of the employees. The satisfaction has gone to a greater extent in increasing the quality of the services that are offered to the patients. It has also led to a reduction in the general costs of the provision of the healthcare services to the clients.

The impact of technology on the organizational structure

Smooth the work of employees

Keep the operations to run fully and effectively

Upgrade increases the productivity within the healthcare facility.

The needs of the technology have assisted much in the structure of the organization. They usually come in handy to assist in smoothing the work. The technology is usually used on the daily operations Beyond the laptops that are found in the office and also the smart phone, the organizations implement information systems, there is also the custom software or even the specialized technology equipment aimed at keeping the operations to run smoothly.

The advancement of time have also done much in decreasing the time that is needed to complete a specific task or even in some instances eliminate the need for job satisfaction and the business process. Upgrade in technology is always aimed at increasing the productivity within the healthcare facility. This is the main reason why the adoption of the technology by the hospital not only increased the amount of patients that are being covered, but also reduce the time taken in doing so.

The structure

Improved efficiency of the health care facilities

Restructuring and modifying the departments

Expansion of different departments

The progression in the computers and the technology has improved the efficiency of the health care facility. The organizational structure need to adapt to the changes by restructuring of the different departments, modifying the requirements of the positions or even adding and removing of the jobs. The employees had to be trained on the new software programs or equipments as a requirement of the job (Flary 2014).

The facility had to expand the different departments so as to meet the needs of the growing employees and the client base. Different other branches needed to be fully managed effectively. There was also need to have a system where all the data could be stored and be retrieved in any of the branches of the healthcare facility. The facility also developed a website where they are able to provide all the needed information about the services that they offer to the members of the public.

This is another clear way that the hospital is utilizing technology to communicate to different groups of people. They use the avenues such as the facebook to try and reach their different groups of clients so as to educate them on the different causes of the diseases and how to find the best cure for the diseases. They also give advice on the different practices that when adopted can be used in the prevention or even the subsequent cure of those diseases.

A good example is the one above which shows a child with some bites that have been caused by the bugs. They also give advice on the best ways that the children and the parents can use in preventing such cases from happening. This is a clear proof of how the use of technology has revolutionized the delivery of the healthcare services to different members of the public.

Effect of technology on the management planning

Improved management

Data collection has been ease from both the internal and external sources.

It is easy to store the data in a warehouse

Collaboration tools make the managers work efficiently.

The accuracy of the management in planning can be improved by the use of the technology. This does so by helping the managers in the provision of the data that is necessary for making of the decisions which are effective. Technology has the ability to collect data from both the external and the internal sources, store them in a warehouse. They are able to provide the managers with the access to the data through a network.

The collaboration tools are also able to make the managers work together in planning the operations and also to make joint decisions. This has made their work to be easier. The decisions which they also come up with tend to be very accurate as they rely on data which is readily available to them. in this manner, the technology does much in easing the work of the managers in the health care facility.

The Data

High amount of data is available

Gathering of data has also been made easy

The gathered data can also be easily analyzed.

The availability of the high amount of data on the patients, different diseases, the prevention measures, the client base are among the key vital issues of the technology management planning. The information technology has made it easier for the collection of all the needed information about the different practices in medicine. In this regard, all the operations of the healthcare facility have been made easier.

The technology has made it easier to gather information from the other branches of the hospital and also other healthcare facilities on the different trends that exist in the field of medicine and general health of the children. This is a key step in the whole process of providing better medical services to the different groups of clients. The management also has the ability to analyze different trends and market research. This has ensures that every decision that they make is based on facts.

Integration

Fasten integration.

EPR has easily integrated individualized computers in the organization.

Tracking and planning for the information has also been made easy.

There are many software that have done much in integration of the different computer systems. An example is the ERP that is the software for the Enterprise Resource Planning has the ability to integrate the individualized systems of computers in the organizations. This integration makes it easier, faster and simpler. It also ease the transfer of information between different computers. The integration has also made it easier for the location and subsequent distribution of the information across a large scale area.

The system is also able to effectively track and plan the fulfillment of the inquires that have been made by the customers. it has also fastened how their needs are being attended to. Managers are also able to view all the processes and the progresses in the manner by which the services are being delivered to the clients through the use of the ERP software among other software.

Storage

Storage of data is easy

There are other internet providers that can assist in storage of data.

It is easy to retrieve the data.

It is usually a big problem when it comes to the storage of the different amount of data. This can be attributed to the fact that the data can be large in number hence cumbersome to store. There can also be some data which when stored in a manual manner, can make it difficult to locate and also share across different branches. The use of some things such as the cloud storage in supplementing the facilities. The storage is usually a pay as you go which provides solution that are able to assist in the storage of data in servers which are massive and have service providers that are independent (Geisler 2015).

The IT teams of the organization can always have the ability to access the data aver an internet connection that decrease and increases the total amount of storage that is used in storing the data. This approach is very flexible and it only means that the amount of the planning data provided to the managers is increased without necessarily putting a lot of investments on the storage capacity.

Access

Easy access to data

Data availability to those in the organization

Ease in communication such as videoconferencing

Planning for future human resource.

The networks for communications have enabled the managers in the organization to have access to and share some data. The contribution of the technology is to remove the silos of the information that was previously available to only those people who are found in one particular department. It is also very easy for the managers to use things such as the collaboration tools as the internet forums and videoconferencing in the sharing of data and in carrying out of joint planning exercises (DIANE Publishing n.d ). This has eased the rate of communication. it has also saved a lot of time that is used in communication. It has also helped the managers in planning for the future human resource that is needed for the organization. This ensures that there is proper planning on the people who are to be outsourced as the employees of the organization. This saves the time and finances that are involved in future planning.

Conclusion

Technology has had a lot of positive impact on the delivery of the healthcare to the Children’s hospital of the King’s daughters. This is evident in the following:

Improved quality of services

Better coordination

Reduced amount of stress of work among the employees

The integration and the subsequent use of the technology have had a lot of the positive impacts on different groups of employees and the managers. They have experienced many instances such as the reduced stress at the work force; there is also ability of coordination between different employees. Management has also been made easy due to the ease of controlling and managing of the workforce (Geisler 2015).

There are also some software and technology that have been developed with the aim of making the works of the healthcare providers easy. An example of the situation is in the case of the use of x-rays among other computerized systems in the process of identification of the diseases and provision of the necessary medical services to the children at an affordable rate. This in fact goes hand in hand with the aim of the hospital of providing better healthcare to children irrespective of their financial ability.

My Family Within The Aspect Of Sociology

My Family Within The Aspect Of Sociology

Families are the basic social groups and central institutions that are united through bonds of kingship or marriage and are present in all societies. In other words a family is a group of people who are affiliated by affinity, consanguinity or co-residence .The family provides its members with protection, companionship, security and socialization. Since it is a unit of socialization the family is an object of analysis for sociologists of the family. In every society there is a difference of how the family is structured and the needs of the family. The main unit in some societies is a nuclear family with two adults and their children while in other units it is a subordinate part of an extended family lastly a third unit is a single parent family where children live with just one parent who is either unmarried, divorced, widowed and can be a mother or father. Over time the family has been argued as the basic building block of society. Just like other institutions in the dynamic world it has been faced with challenges; it is hence vulnerable and susceptible to change that is incited by internal and external factors. These changes can occur slowly or quickly and they affect the dynamics of a family and hence it should be explored in a more holistic approach and not a single discipline approach. The family like other institutions has its own sets of values, statuses, roles and remains a principal environment where an initial form of socialization takes place (Naveed, 2009).Many sociologists rely on different perspectives and theoretical models that explain social interactions and the way humans behave. Sociologists analyze social phenomena at different levels and different perspectives. There are three dominant modes used by sociologists and these are functionalist perspective, conflict perspective and symbolic interaction perspective.

This paper will therefore look at my family within the aspect of sociology putting into focus various concepts and theories in sociology. First when we look at my family on a symbolic interaction aspect we will consider some symbols that are portrayed in daily life upon which all human interaction and all human relationships re based on. First I come from a single-parent family raised by a mother who is divorced. From this perspective it is indicated that people behave differently according to how they interpret the meaning of the world. This interpretation however is dependent on how they perceive the different symbols and details of daily lives. It can be said that language is symbolic since they do not summon forth meaning on their own but symbolize what meaning is inferred. According to the symbolic interaction perspective relationship are built on symbolic interaction. People communicate through language which is a shared system of symbolic interaction. All social and cultural interactions are symbolic. Marriage is facilitated by symbolic interaction between persons. It is said that people with strong marriage are those with similar interpretations of symbolic interactions. It can be said that my mother and father read the world in an incompatible way and that is why they were not able to remain stable in their marriage ( Farley, 2012).They had many cases of miscommunications and this led to their separation. Miscommunication can be termed as a natural result of miscommunication. This is due to the fact everyone attaches her own personal and cultural meaning of the various symbols and social phenomena’s and hence they have different expectations of the world my mother being from a religious home vied her marriage as a sacred institution whereas my father raised in a secular household read marriage as a cultural tradition and hence this became a source of conflict between them. On the symbolic interaction perspective action is motivated by a person’s subject interpretation of symbols. My parents were very incompatible when it came to their actions and behaviors. People read the world differently and that explains why they respond to the world differently. For instance my mother is very tidy and neat whereas my father is the exact opposite. When my family is looked at from the social interaction perspective then it can be clearly concluded that symbolic interaction definitely can explain the divorce (Farley, 2012).

The conflict theory looks at how people within a family struggle for power; how they disagree and how they compete for resources. Wealth and prestige form the basis for most of the competitions. When my family is looked at from the conflict theory it can be said that our family underwent conflicts and disharmony. This was due to the fact that there are different dynamics and roles played by my family members.first traditionally the father are seen as the head of the family and it should come naturally. However this was not the case in our family because my mother did not recognize this simply because she was the bread winner since my father was out of employment. She often looked down upon him and there was a constant struggle for power and control between them. My mother saw that since she was taking care of all the finances in the house then she should be the head but on the other hand my father could not let himself to this since he saw this as being denied his right bas a man and the head of the family. There was no way they could come to an understanding and hence there was no development of positive relationship between them hence the conflicts persisted and led to their divorce officially (Ray, 2010).

Structural functionalism is quite a broad perspective in sociology that interprets society as structure inter related parts; functionalism addresses the society as whole in terms of functions of its constituent elements like norms, customs, traditions, institutions. Family as asocial structure creates deep social and emotional bonds that give people in depth systems of social support and at the same time generate expectations of social responsibility within the members of the family through this fulfilling the function n of the family of creating social cohesion. In our family, my mother supports my brother and I socially, emotionally, financially and physically. We talk to her and confide in her many things including any challenges that come our way. She always lends us her ears and offers us a shoulder to lean on whenever we need it. She provides for us from food, clothing shelter and also education there is nothing we say we lack. In the same way we give her emotional support and encouragement incase she is going through a rough patch at work or generally in life. We really were by her side throughout the divorce process and never left her side. In our family there is a system of support for all of us as members of the family and hence a healthy environment and opportunity for growth of each one of us. Therefore each member should adhere to their functions and stay together in harmony. Therefore we see that the family is a very aspect of the society and has to be therefore studies with great care so that there can be avoidance of conflicts. All these dimensions of the family that have been discussed are very important when it comes to my family. There are a lot of things that I can learn from these perspectives.

My father has always seen the good in all people including those with the harshest characters and personalities. My brother and me struggled to understand this aspect of him, as he tried to instill the same in us partly because we were young. For this reason, I found myself dealing with adult issues like prejudice, justice, race and etiquette. Tom Robinson’s case exposed us to a deeper understanding of these issues and why it was important in society. Attending church with our black maid, Calpurnia also allowed me to process this content carefully and understand my father’s position as far as justice is concerned. Additionally, I was always a curious kid, asking questions and always ready to learn and have new experiences. As we were walking home from church, I asked Calpurnia the meaning of the word “rape.” She was a bit hesitant and shocked that I asked such a question with all innocence. Instead of giving me a straight answer she redirected me and suggested I asked my father. One evening I decided to approach my father who was sitting in his chair by the window reading the newspaper, and ask him what “rape” meant. The phrase had become common in Maycomb especially when walking down the streets with my dad and brother, following Tom Robinson’s case which was in his hands. I was curious to understand why the phrase triggered many people and their attitude towards my father and Tom during the trial. My father explained that rape was the carnal knowledge of a female by force and without consent. I needed more information because I didn’t understand the concept or Why Cal refused to share such information with me if was that basic. Although I didn’t get all the content I needed from my father, I had educated myself a little bit and I was also a step closer to fully grasping the concept.

Introduction

Childhood and adulthood are the two most important periods of a person’s life. A person’s youth influences how they will be as an adult, and their adulthood dictates how they will spend their retirement or old age. Falling ill was a major distinction between childhood and adulthood. As a youngster, a simple cough might win them a day of pampering relaxation in the bed and a couple of days off from school. Warm milk and hot soup would soothe a sick youngster much. One may spend their time watching cartoons or drawing in their favorite art books all day long. In addition, the youngster receives unending affection and love, which is priceless. Adults, on the other hand, must take care of themselves if they get unwell. It is not any fun any longer (Gopnik et al., 2017). There is a good chance that the grown-up guy will be unable to miss work if he is suffering from a mild illness or cough. A day off is likely to be spent working from home. Furthermore, they may have to care for their children even if they are unwell.

As a child, one does not have to be afraid to try new things since you do not care about the result. It aided in their education and provided valuable life experiences. However, an adult is too engrossed in conforming to societal conventions for him or her to take risks and attempt new things. When you are a grown-up, the fear of losing drives your behavior more than anything else. In childhood, watching one’s favorite cartoon series all day long was the greatest joy. As a kid, staying awake while watching a movie was one of the most cherished childhood goals. It didn’t matter how many times someone had seen their favorite animated movie, each moment was just as significant. Adults, on the other hand, can only dream about binge-watching. One is so exhausted after a long day at work that they find it difficult to keep their eyes open even if the main news report mentions a nice movie time.

When I was a kid, I didn’t care what anybody else was wearing; I was the center of attention. Everything a youngster need is available. Because they are so sure of themselves, others take their clothing as a fashion statement. Another benefit is that children do not have to worry about what to dress. The parents are the ones who come up with the ideas. In contrast to adults, children have little interest in fashion. All they want to do is play and have fun in a dress that they can move about freely in. In contrast, as a grown-up, it is essential to be fashion-conscious. Nonetheless, you do not want to be the center of attention during a social event. Adult responsibilities include searching for the ideal design to express one’s individuality, perusing fashion publications for the newest trends, and ensuring that one’s clothing is an exact fit.

It is a common childhood memory for children to construct a makeshift playhouse from old couch seats, large boxes, or ripped bed linens (Wright et al., 2018). Dinky cars, Barbie dolls, and baked cookies were just a few of their favorite things to have in their little abode. I think that is one of the most treasured childhood memories. For adults, the fun tent has evolved into a huge project including the construction of a large home out of concrete and cement, which costs a lot of money. Because they want to build a home of their own, they take on an additional job. The paradox of space is that it may either be too much or too little to suit all of one’s demands.

Conclusion

At some point in their lives, everyone realizes that their most treasured belongings are the happy experiences they had as a youngster, no matter how much they want to grow up. When compared to the carefree and happy days of childhood, all of life’s material blessings pale into insignificance.

III. MARKET ANALYSIS

Market Segmentation and Target MarketChill Out’s potential clients are categorized in this area. For this study, we began by mapping the cities in Kuwait with the greatest overnight consumers based on prior data. Chill Out’s target demographic for customer falls within an age range between eighteen and forty four years old. We were able to estimate the number of customers in this category by using fixed broadband pricing as an additional criterion. It was also used to estimate how many individuals are likely to book vacations online using mobile devices based on dual access subscriptions. For the first three years, Chill Out intends to focus its efforts only on the market. The criteria to segment the market are based on several factors:

Age Range: Unique experiences are at the heart of Chill Out’s mission to connect people. Dual Access Subscriber and Mobile Only Segments: In order to contact Chill Out’s target market online, the firm need Internet connectivity. There are now two more classifications to help distinguish the next generation of mobile Internet users. Mobile and fixed broadband subscribers are the only ones eligible.

Price Sensitive: These are the people Chill Out intends to target since they have the least concern about cost and the most money to spend on the kinds of experiences the company hopes to provide.

Competitor AnalysisAt the moment, there isn’t a lot of competition in this field.

Shalihna: Internet-based merchants are included in this group of businesses. In order to provide visitors with tailor-made holiday packages, it has a network of cutting-edge companies, each with a staff of experienced consultants. Shalihna is a well known platform which offers similar services in which customers may book vacation packages from which are represented by a global network of offices and agents.

Shaleh Weekend: This firm may help consumers save money on a holiday. Those who are members of Shaleh Weekend are required to take advantage of their deals and offers regardless of whether or not they are members of this company. These sites do thorough research before suggesting venues to their consumers in order to ensure the quality of their products. Rivalry has never been a problem in this field.

SWOT AnalysisStrength: Introducing new concept in Kuwait throughout linking small business with customers to enjoy their holiday in farms or Kashta

Weakness: Introducing such concept will require heavy investment in marketing and awareness campaigns

Opportunities: Since this is a new concept, a high percentage of Kuwaiti people will be attracted and by that high revenues are expected.

Threats: Continuous application updates should be done to eliminate any error.

Childhood-Obesity

Currently, around one third American children and adolescents is overweight or fat, approximately threefold the degree in 1963. With decent cause, juvenile corpulence is now the top most fitness apprehension amongst parents in the America topping prescription misuse and smoking. Amongst youngsters today, obesity is producing a comprehensive range of fitness complications that beforehand weren’t seen until maturity. These comprise high blood pressure; type 2 diabetes and raised blood cholesterol levels. There are also psychosomatic effects: Obese kids are more disposed to to low self-esteem, bad body image and unhappiness.

Superfluous weightiness at young ages has been related to advanced and previous demise rates in maturity. Maybe one of the greatest sobering declarations concerning the brutality of the juvenile obesity epidemic came from previous Surgeon General Richard Carmona, who categorised the hazard as follows:

Due to the growing rates of obesity, unwholesome consumption practices and physical idleness, we may see the first generation that will be not as much of fit and have a shorter life expectation than their paternities. Obesity has also increased intensely in adults. Currently over 144 million Americans, or sixty six per cent of grown-ups age twenty and older, are weighty or obese (BMI at or above twenty five). That is closely seven out of each ten adults. Additionally, thirty three per cent of adults are categorized as obese (BMI at or above thirty). Obese Americans now outstrip overweight Americans, which indicates that persons who are above a fit are meaningfully, not somewhat, above a fit weight. Certain specialists project that by 2015, seventy five per cent of grown-ups will be overheavy, with forty one per cent overweight.

Overweight and obese are selection markers used for varieties of weight that are overhead what is usually measured fit for a assumed height and may raise the risks for particular illnesses or health complications. Overweight and obese are defined differently in children and adults because the quantity of body fat varies with age. Also, BMI in youngsters is age and sex-specific since body fat varies based on development rates and growth changes in boys and girls.

Age and sex related development plans are used to compute BMI in youngsters and youths (ages 12–20) using a child’s mass and height, then corresponding their BMI to the analogous BMI for age percentile for their stage and gender. The percentile displays how a child’s mass associates to that of other kids of the equivalent age and gender. For instance, a BMI for age percentile of sixty five means that the child’s weight is greater than that of 65 per cent of other youngsters of the matching age and gender. Kids and teenagers whose BMI-for-age is:

• In the 95th percentile or greater are considered obese.

• Amid the 85th and less than the 95th percentile are regarded overweight.

• Amid the 5th and less than the 85th percentile is regarded normal weight.

• Lower than 5th percentile are regarded underweight.

There is no one reason of fatness. It can be because of the standard of living ways, atmosphere and heredities. But, in the widely held circumstances, it is because of a simple concept that there is more calorie intake than it is burnt. Some shared subjects leading to this calorie disproportion comprise:

Increased quantity of food: Ration amounts have augmented, particularly when children eat outside home. Value menu items are all the rage. Though they are a bargain, they’re a bad for maintaining good health.

Lower Nutrition: The eating habits of kids have led them to a kind of present day undernourishment. Most of them fill up on empty calories which are foods with negligible nourishing worth. These elections are repeatedly high in fat, sodium, added sugars and calories but minimum in nutrients they need to be fit and lean. At the same time, Kids ignore the healthy options like fat-free or low-fat dairy products, vegetables, fruits, whole grains.

More out of home eating: Unwholesome diet and drink selections can be found all about the kids like schools, fast food restaurants and grocery stores. These options are convenient and appropriate into the children’s on-the-go lifestyles.

Moving Less: Virtually one fourth kids do not spend any free-time in physical movement. Moreover, the regular American teenager devotes four to five hours to TV, laptop or video games daily.

Physical Effects

Obesity and overweight individuals have adverse bearing on practically each organ structure in the body. There is a straight connexion among increased body mass index (BMI) and augmented danger for many other illnesses and long-lasting circumstances counting high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnoea, liver problems, asthma, and some cancers.

Being obese or overweight is a foremost avoidable reason of heart disease. Obesity has lately surpassed smoking as the primary basis of untimely heart attack. A current study initiated that kids who are overheavy are at an augmented risk of emerging heart illness beginning at age twenty five. Teenagers who are fat and who have great triglyceride levels have arteries comparable to those of forty five year olds. Till lately, most freshly identified cases of diabetes in kids were for Type 1, which is mostly hereditary in origin. At least sixty five per cent of persons with diabetes expire of certain form of heart illness or stroke when the sickness is left uncured

Socio-psychological Effects

Psychosocial concerns involve emotional wellbeing and the capability to communicate to intimate friends and peers. Such concerns may have numerous causes, some of which are hereditary and certain, socioeconomic. Infantile corpulence is also related with numerous psychosocial glitches, the best researched of which is depression.

Depression is a very common psychological fitness disease in youths. Teenage onset depression is frequently tenacious and may be connected to lengthier period opposing psychological fitness and wellbeing results. Though danger issues for unhappiness in teenagers are not well recognized, one that has been researched, predominantly in adolescents, is physique disappointment. In a lengthy term research, E. Stice and numerous colleagues brought into being that physique disappointment, nutritional limitation, and indications of bulimia are related to unhappiness. Weightiness matters frequently reason body displeasure, but they might disturb girls of numerous ethnic groups contrarily. J. Siegel, for instance, established that African American girls have a added optimistic body image than whites, Hispanics, and Asians and that heaviness affects body image and contentment less in African American teenagers than in other ethnicities.

Other readings have recognised that overweight youngsters looking for management for their fatness have more depressing indications than communal founded obese or non-obese control individuals. Overall, investigators have been incapable to control if changes in gloomy indications are founded on the harshness of corpulence. Available readings have been founded on comparatively minor samples, rising queries about the deductions’ rationality.

However in a reading by S. Erermis, more than half of the section of obese youths had a clinically significant analysis, frequently connecting main gloomy illness. Unhappiness itself is often related with irregular configurations of consumption and physical movement that might result in forthcoming fatness; nevertheless, obesity may also consequence in psychosocial complications that can yield melancholy.

Substantiation supports both theories. On the one hand, childhoods with depression are at larger risk to progress an augmented body mass index. E. Goodman and R. C. Whitaker established that augmented BMI was related with augmented unhappiness at a one-year follow-up, with depression notches uppermost amongst youngsters who had the utmost escalation in body mass index. On the other hand, in straightforward school girls, advanced BMI was related with cumulative indications of depression. And weighty adolescents who had been provoked by peers or family fellows were found to have amplified suicidal feelings and endeavours.

It seems that fat youngsters and teenagers have problems with peer relations. Overheavy youngsters, for instance, incline to have insufficient associates. Charting juvenile community linkages proves that usual weight youngsters have more societal relations with a dominant network of youngsters, while heavy youngsters have more bordering and lonely relations in the network. In a conflicting discovery, though, a reading of nine-year-old girls in the United Kingdom did not prove that heavy teenagers were less liked and had less contacts.

A significant psychosocial problem for overweight youngsters and teen-agers is quality of existence. Investigation on this matter has not been all-encompassing, and current readings have concentrated on complete measures of value of life somewhat than obesity-specific events. J. S. Schwimmer established that fat youngsters and teenagers stated meaningfully inferior health-related superiority of life than their usual weight equivalents, and they were five times more prone to have decreased worth of life.

In fact, the health-related quality of life for overweight youngsters and teen-agers was analogous to that of children identified with cancer. And overweight youngsters and teen-agers with disruptive sleep apnoea stated even lower quality of life than those deprived of it did, maybe because of their augmented daytime drowsiness. On-going investigation pursues to settle the conclusions of Schwimmer’s side and to polish the understanding of how, exactly, fatness touches children’s excellence of life.

Youthful obesity single-handedly is expected to cost $14 billion yearly in straight health expenditures, and children protected by Medicaid are virtually six times more probable to be treated for a identification of obesity than kids protected by private coverage. Though there are many reasons of college non-attendance, a reading examining the presence patterns established obese youngsters are inattentive considerably more than regular weight youngsters. Such non-attendance damages pupils’ education, causes parents or guardians to omit work, and is expensive to school structures.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

Dance, theater, vocal and instrumental music, pantomime, spoken poetry, and other creative activities are included in the phrase performance arts. They contain a diverse range of cultural expressions that demonstrate people’s creativity and may be found in a variety of different intangible cultural heritage areas. Music is perhaps the most popular performing art since it can be found in any location. It is often a vital element of other performing arts and cultural aspects that cannot be seen or touched, such as rituals, pleasant occasions, and oral traditions. In other words, it is an essential component of culture (Diettrich, 2015). It may be found in a broad variety of situations, whether religious or non-religious, traditional or contemporary, and tied to work or recreational activities. Music may have a political or economic side since it can both document a society’s history and honor a renowned individual, as well as being an integral part of financial transactions. Music is performed at a variety of occasions, including weddings, funerals, ceremonies and initiations, festivals, various sorts of entertainment, and a variety of other social gatherings. Despite its complexity, dance may be defined as a sequence of planned bodily motions performed to music (Hani et al., 2021). Apart from the physical aspect of dance, the rhythmic gestures, steps, and motions of dance may sometimes transmit a mood or emotion or represent something that occurred or something that people do on a daily basis (Günlü, Pırnar, & Yağcı, 2009). This is true for religious dances as well as dances depicting sexual behavior, battle, or hunting. Traditional theater performances sometimes feature acting, singing, dancing, and music in addition to recitation, narration, or debate. Pantomime or puppetry may be utilized in traditional plays on occasion. As such, these modes of expression are always vital to a culture and society, such as when singing songs while working or perform music at ceremonies.

In the most well-known kind of Chinese opera, also known as Peking opera or Beijing opera, there is singing, miming, dancing, and even acrobatics. Beginning in Beijing in the middle of the Qing dynasty, it reached its pinnacle of development and acceptance by the middle of the 19th century. Jingju, commonly referred to as Beijing opera, is a fantastic live performance art form that attracts visitors from all over the globe and enthralls, captivates, and frequently confounds them (Lin & Lian, 2018). This uniquely Chinese art form never fails to astound and enthrall spectators with its lavish costumes and makeup, emotive and acrobatic stage gestures, highly symbolic and stylized content, and distinctive musical style (Long & Sweet, 2006). The best approach to describe art is as a combination of stylized patterns in language, movement, staging, clothing, cosmetics, and music. The best way to describe the art is in this way (instrumental and vocal). Each of these characteristics is the result of a long-standing system and is presented as live art via the efforts of skilled performers. Traditional performing arts as presented through Beijing Opera preserve the Chinese cultural heritage through enabling self-discovery and expression, historical reflection and education, enhancing creativity, and integration into the modern city fabric.

1.2 Problem Statement

Any objects connected to cultural manifestations and activities—whether they be instruments, artifacts, places, or other objects—are included in the Convention’s definition of intangible cultural assets. This comprises musical instruments, stage sets and props, costumes, and other forms of body adornment connected to dance in the performing arts (Satoru, 2007). The Convention defines cultural spaces as places that often host performing arts performances because of their proximity to such events. The performing arts are not without peril in the modern world. Many once-acceptable acts are abandoned when new cultural norms take hold (Evens & Hauttekeete, 2011). Even if they become more widespread, it’s likely that only a select few expressions will profit while others would suffer. The clearest illustration of this in the field of music right now is probably the rise in popularity of “World Music.” Even if this phenomenon is crucial for the exchange of cultural ideas and promotes innovation (Petronela, 2016), which enhances creative scenes throughout the world, it may nonetheless have negative effects (Kafadar, 2021). It is possible to create a homogenous final product by homogenizing a range of musical genres. It is feasible. In this context, several musical approaches serve a very specific function. These musical techniques are essential to the process of performing as well as the heritage of certain ensembles.

China’s cultural heritage is in danger of being lost for all time as a result of changing environmental and climatic conditions, increasing tourism, poor resource management, and the emergence of modern cities. Tour operators regularly include these kinds of activities in their itineraries. Cultural marketing campaigns aimed at luring visitors generally place a strong focus on music, dance, and theater (Gražulevičiūtė, 2006). While this could lead to an increase in tourism, more income for the nation or city, and the opportunity to learn about the local culture, it might also lead to the creation of brand-new performing arts acts catered to the tastes of tourists. The resurgence of traditional performing arts and the creation of “economic value” for intangible cultural assets may be facilitated by tourism; nevertheless, performances of these arts may be compromised in order to add elements that are more appealing to tourists. Occasionally, traditional artworks are commercialized in order to increase consumer accessibility, which ultimately results in the loss of crucial forms of collective expression (Long & Sweet, 2006). In other situations, more pervasive aspects of society or the environment might seriously harm performing arts traditions. For instance, a community could no longer have access to the kind of wood needed to create traditional musical instruments if its forests are cut down.

In order to be recorded or utilized for instructional purposes, many Chinese musical compositions and traditional performing arts have been altered to correspond to western notational systems; nonetheless, it is likely that this has had a negative impact on the originals (Maags, 2020). The majority of Chinese performing arts and musical genres use scales that deviate from common Western patterns in terms of their tones and intervals. As a consequence, during transcribing, some of the tonal nuances inherent in the original may be lost (Lin & Lian, 2018). For instance, adding frets to stringed instruments substantially alters the sound of the instrument and breaks up the song’s monotony. The main objectives of China’s efforts to conserve its traditional performing arts should be the development of musical instruments, the dissemination of knowledge and expertise, and the establishment of master-apprentice relationships. To the greatest degree possible, all artistic performances, dance routines, and theatrical interpretations must be emphasized for their complexity.

1.3 Research Questions

In order to remain focused on the study issues mentioned above, the present research will be guided by the following research questions:

How do the Chinese traditional performing arts preserve their cultural heritage?

What role do the performing artists play that contributes to the preservation of the Chinese cultural heritage?

1.4 Aims of the Study

Performance could include performance recording, documenting, inventorying, and preservation. The digitization process allows for the proper identification and classification of conserved items. Increased public awareness and audience expansion are two of the most significant initiatives that may be done to safeguard the survival of traditional performing arts (Maags, 2020). Another key stage includes the involvement of cultural media, institutions, and industry. Connoisseurship may lead to heightened interest in regional variations of an art form as well as active engagement in the performance itself. Audiences may be educated on the many components of a form of expression, hence broadening its appeal (Labadi & Long, 2010). This may be done by educating audiences about the many aspects of a certain kind of expression.

The research aims at identifying, exploring, and defining the role of traditional performing arts in preserving the Chinese cultural heritage. In addition, the research will explore the role of traditional performing arts in preserving the Chinese cultural heritage. Lastly, the research will offer recommendations on the most effective evidence-based approaches and strategies to empower the current generation to retain the traditional performing arts for the sustainable preservation of the Chinese cultural heritage.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW

2.1 Globalization as a Threat to Cultural Heritage

Leaving aside the political rhetoric, globalization has resulted in significant disruption in China. The frequent conflict between Western and Chinese culture is one of this shift’s most striking features. In many situations, people turn to Western culture as an example of strength and beauty. Globalization is not a brand-new concept. The ties that China has with other parts of the globe have had a significant impact on its history. For more than five millennia, interactions with people from different parts of the world have shaped China’s history and cultural identity (Zhang, 2019). What, then, exactly makes up China’s cultural heritage? Through Mongolia and the Silk Road, people have traveled to China from all over the globe and from a variety of cultures. It has always had novel and varied ideas about itself (Io, 2019). The very first cultural exchanges occurred in China and, thus, Chinese culture encompasses a wide variety of topics, which may be seen in its architecture and design as expressed in its various forms of performing arts.

Reference to a group’s or culture’s legacy points to both tangible and intangible items that are a part of that group or culture, are handed down from one generation to the next, are preserved in the present, and are left for future generations ((Labadi & Long, 2010). The material culture of a people is also a crucial component of their heritage (Lin & Lian, 2018). For example, buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, works of art, and artefacts can be used to define a culture of people. In addition to natural heritage, which consists of folklore, customs, language, and knowledge, it also comprises oral traditions, performing arts, social norms, rituals, holiday celebrations, knowledge of nature and the cosmos, or the ability to manufacture traditional crafts (Hani et al., 2012). Whatever form they may take, these things are a part of human legacy, and people owe it to themselves to do all in their power to keep them secure.

Most people think the twenty-first century will be known as the globalization century. Even if economic globalization has many advantages, it also poses a significant obstacle to the advancement of cultural globalization (McLaren, 2011). Cities’ economic development is significantly influenced by culture (Fan & Niyomsilp, 2022). The preservation of priceless historical cultural artifacts is more crucial than ever. Protecting cultural treasures has both cultural and economic repercussions (Io & Chong, 2022). A nation’s cultural legacy may provide light on both its overall history and its fundamental sense of self. The protection of cultural heritage has grown to be both a significant economic opportunity and an essential component of achieving sustainable development. Cultural objects and artifacts may be safeguarded and preserved using a variety of methods. One method that is often employed is to keep cultural assets up to date via the creative industry (Radzuan, Fukami, & Yahaya, 2014). One of many different forms of creative industries is the sector of creative culture. The creative industries are beginning to get more attention in the post-industrial economies centered on information. They are believed to be responsible for the above-average economic growth and job creation. Additionally, they promote cultural variety and serve as significant representations of cultural identity (Io & Chong, 2022). Identifying the issues that need to be taken into consideration in order to use the creative sector to safeguard cultural heritage is the most crucial thing that can be done. Then, research must concentrate on how the creative industry may blend cultural practices into commercial aims in order to preserve cultural heritage.

The preservation of a nation’s natural and cultural legacies is crucial and beneficial. It is a face that the general people can see and that may spread to the rest of the globe. Cultural heritage creates a comprehensive framework for preserving historical sites, aging buildings, monuments, shrines, and landmarks, providing insight into who we are as a people (Io, 2019). People are able to better know themselves more fully as a result of this. Since they both reflect and create the fundamental beliefs, values, and ambitions of a people, culture and history are essential in forming that people’s sense of national identity. The cultural history of a people must be preserved for future generations since it is so important to who they are (Alivizatou-Barakou et al., 2017). It is the enormous quantity of knowledge and skill that is handed on via cultural expression—not the cultural expression itself—that is significant. Both the minority and the majority of people in a state gain from the exchange of knowledge, which is crucial in this regard for the social and economic well-being of that state. Additionally, it is crucial for both developed and emerging nations.

2.2 Performance Arts and the Facilitation of Self-Discovery and Expression

People are given the opportunity to better understand and express themselves via the medium of the performing arts. Students are better able to appreciate their cultural past as a result, and the need of conserving it is brought to light. People are more likely to keep anything in their lives that they care about and enjoy as part of their routine. Every society has its own unique performing arts that exhibit the manner in which its members dress, play music, make art, tell stories, and engage in a wide range of other activities that are peculiar to their culture (Kafadar, 2021). People that are a part of your culture will be overjoyed to discuss their passions with you, whether it be their jobs, their hobbies, or their crafts, and they will be happy to share their experiences with you. This does contain the kinds of artworks that you could see in a museum, but it also encompasses a great deal more than that. A cultural artifact might be anything from a utensil used in the kitchen to a piece of software written on a computer. According to Degges-White (2020), there are a variety of approaches to communication that may be accomplished via the arts. People are able to speak with one another and engage in ways that are not possible with more traditional forms of art or communication. Participating in activities related to performance art helps to create an atmosphere in which people are more likely to engage in complex connections with themselves (Evens & Hauttekeete, 2011). The process of self-discovery often results in individuals gaining a newfound appreciation for their own culture. This, in turn, contributes to the continued existence of the culture within the community.

The idea of a cultural legacy includes things that can be carried as well as those that cannot be moved, as is shown by the performing arts. Additionally, it includes things that can be seen as well as those that cannot be seen. These assets are so precious in and of themselves that they have been passed down from generation to generation. Over the course of history, the word “legacy” has come to mean an increasingly broad range of concepts (Kafadar, 2021). At first, the word “legacy” referred exclusively to the enormous artifacts that ancient civilizations had left behind for future generations. Nevertheless, throughout the course of time, it has come to denote not just existing civilizations but also representations of the past. The cultivation of local communities and the facilitation of people’s active participation in social and cultural life both rely heavily on people’s connections to their heritage, which provides a sense of both stability and identity to individuals (Petronela, 2016). Additionally, it may provide tried-and-true ways for preventing conflict and bringing individuals together in a cohesive group.

2.2.1 Traditional Culture Preservation

The People’s Republic of China has been a stalwart supporter of the World Heritage movement throughout the course of the last several years. Officials at the national level of the Chinese government have therefore requested that provincial and local governments identify, categorize, and promote both physical historic places as well as activities that comprise the nation’s intangible heritage. Such measures are made to ensure the protection of local cultures and traditions from the grassroot level. Nonetheless, the goal does not restrict itself just to the protection of cultural heritage sites and traditions. Instead, the goal is to use these things as tools of state-building and growth (Wei & Long, 2021). On the one hand, state and party authorities regarded heritage as a method of luring tourists, especially in areas with low natural resources and industrial growth. This was particularly true in regions with limited natural resources and industrial development. The inhabitants of these areas have the mindset that a rich cultural history can make up for the dearth of natural resources and lack of industrialization. On the other hand, the government makes an effort to leverage the protection of heritage in order to develop a sense of national identity, especially in areas that are mostly inhabited by minority groups. The traditional ways of life and cultural practices of China’s many minority ethnic groups and civilizations are under danger as a result of the rapid and broad economic and social changes brought about by industrialization. Oracles from the Shang Dynasty wrote down what they knew about an ancient ethnic group that was known as the Qiang. The significance of this group in the history of China helped prepare the way for the development of other ethnic groups in China, such as the Han, who are currently the largest ethnic group (Wei & Long, 2021). The Qiang have an extensive and intriguing history, which has enabled them to develop a culture that is uniquely their own throughout the course of time. Oral literature, festivals, music and dance, the way houses are built, arts and crafts, dress, food, and other aspects of this culture are all components of this culture.

2.2.2 Ensuring Cultural Heritage

Even though China has achieved a lot of progress in the last ten years in terms of safeguarding its cultural legacy, the country is still up against a number of obstacles. The consequences of mass tourism, the effects of climate change, and the ongoing pressure from industrialization are the most serious of these concerns. Since the 1990s, researchers in China have been actively developing theories on the preservation of cultural properties, with a particular emphasis on doing so throughout the course of the most recent fifteen years. The year 1990 marked the beginning of this period of time in history. The recognition of new types of cultural assets and a more nuanced understanding of the conservation principles of authenticity, integrity, and acceptable application have both contributed to a firmer theoretical foundation for conservation in China.

Chinese Art After 1279 (Art history teaching resources, 2022).

As a result of its very lengthy history, China has an extremely extensive cultural legacy. The last several decades have seen the country experience economic expansion and social advancement on a scale that has never been seen before. This has ushered in both new possibilities and problems for the preservation of the nation’s cultural assets. Since the turn of the century, there has been a significant increase in the number of people working to preserve China’s cultural heritage. As a direct result of this, there has been an increase in the amount of theoretical research conducted, as well as an increase in the amount of communication and cooperation amongst conservationists all over the globe. The recent achievements that China has had in its efforts to preserve its historical heritage are reflected in the country’s efforts to further strengthen its foundation. The Third National Heritage Site Inventory, which began in the previous decade and continued for a total of four and a half years, is considered to be the most exhaustive survey that has ever been conducted in China. At the same time, specialists investigated the underwater possibilities of other historic landmarks, including the Great Wall, the Grand Canal, and the Silk Road, amongst others.

The Great Wall of China (Science ABC, 2022).

During the course of this time period, China has achieved significant progress toward the preservation of archaeological parks for large-scale sites as well as the construction of new parks. As a result of this, the country has acquired the knowledge necessary to strike a balance between the conflicting goals of urban expansion and the protection of historic sites. The creation of archaeological parks is one example of an innovative approach to the conservation, utilization, interpretation, and presentation of archaeological sites. These initiatives take into consideration the needs of a wide variety of stakeholders, as well as the benefits that can be gained from increased tourism and economic growth. Collectively, these initiatives have been beneficial to the people in the area; they have brought about significant social and economic benefits; they have contributed to the sustainable expansion of archaeological assets; and they have helped to safeguard cultural variety.

2.3 Learning Programs in Performing Arts as a Basis to Preserve Cultural Heritage

Through historical analysis and instructional programs, cultural legacy may be preserved. This is due to the fact that art is an integral element of the human experience. The design of a plan for teaching children is an essential subject that would contribute to the perpetuation of cultural problems since it focuses on the next generation as cultural inheritors. This would aid in the preservation of cultural artifacts throughout time. By providing chances for young people to learn about their cultural treasures, society as a whole would be better equipped to defend and preserve its cultural legacy, and the values it promotes would be more widely disseminated. According to Khurramovich (2022), participation in traditional activities is crucial for young people to develop patriotism and get an education. Children’s creative potential may be enhanced via art education, which is a terrific approach to maintain cultural heritage and connect with them at the same time. Both scientists and artists have investigated the origins of imagination and creativity. Depending on the researcher’s initial area of scientific or artistic interest at the outset of their study, these events might be discussed in a variety of ways (Evens & Hauttekeete, 2011). Young people may consider the past and acquire new knowledge in order to comprehend and create art that challenges society from diverse perspectives, elicits empathy for others, and provokes reflection on the present status of humankind. Young people might thus utilize art as a means of speaking out against society.

No one concept of creativity is universally accepted. Instead, it varies from nation to nation and culture to culture. People have varying conceptions of what it means to be creative, which has resulted in varying conceptions of what creativity means in culture (Radzuan, Fukami, & Yahaya, 2014). Creativity is not only a cultural phenomenon; it is also a universal problem-solving method. However, bear in mind that each culture has a unique conception of what a problem is. These occurrences have been kept a secret, maybe because, in contrast to the actual world, imagination symbolizes a kind of freedom that is seen as self-sacrifice (Satoru, 2007). When engaging in a creative activity that makes you feel good, your imagination and creativity increase, which may then be applied to another area of study or action. This expansion of creativity and imagination may then be applied to different modes of learning and action. Imaginative creation is a spiritual discipline that may meticulously combine a variety of artistic or scientific experiences, along with the performances and discoveries that accompany them. This ability is known as integrative capacity (Labadi & Long, 2010). It is typical to let children to create anything they choose without imposing restrictions. It is believed to be required for the development of creative ideas. This strategy might help children develop and become more creative. Thus, the way they think and how they support their own creativity would be seen as granting them unrestricted freedom to fulfill their wants in the world of their imagination. This authorization would give them the flexibility to be innovative. Learners must let go of their concerns about the outcome of their work and their fear of failure in order to achieve calm throughout the creative expression process. People that participate in performance art have the opportunity to connect with the past, gain new knowledge, and create new works of art. All of these activities improve the lives of individuals and the state of the globe.

2.4 Performing Arts and Creativity for Young People in China

Performance art may encourage individuals to be more creative, which may be beneficial to a society’s economic and political progress. When children grow up in an atmosphere that supports creativity, they enhance their abstract and analytical thinking skills, as well as their capacity to perceive how things go together and become more receptive to unconventional ideas. People who think creatively are more likely to reject gender stereotypes and avoid forming hasty judgments about other people and circumstances (Wei & Long, 2021). They do most of their work on their own and are very self-disciplined in all parts of their job. They have excellent self-control, can cope with uncertainty, and can patiently wait for what they desire. Creative learners are prepared to take chances, work hard to be the best, and consider the broader picture and the wider world (Radzuan, Fukami, & Yahaya, 2014). If talented children are assisted in the proper manner, they will be able to become global thinkers and relate the arts to the real world. This might assist you in coming up with fresh ideas and solving difficulties for the rest of your life. Kids need to spend time outdoors in the light and fresh air for healthy development, and they also need to be able to express themselves creatively via the arts. By participating in the arts, children learn how to locate and think of ideas, how to start and solve issues, and how to create and produce things. According to Cerisola (2018), the ongoing mixing of location and culture has increased the importance of each region having its own culture, history, religion, and identity. The more links there are between location and culture, the more significant it becomes (Labadi & Long, 2010). Thus, performing arts foster creativity, which is critical for developing ideas that will make the world a better place politically and economically. The performing arts become a driving force behind social, political, and economic advancement, aiding in the preservation of China’s cultural past.

Putting performance art into modern cities helps to keep cultural heritage alive by making Chinese towns into cultural hubs for the whole world. The authors Zhang et al. (2020) say that the different patterns of urban cultural consumption reflect not only the current connections between cities and the global economy, but also the long-term effects of their cultural traditions on their evolution. Old performance art can be mixed into cities of today through theaters, settings, and institutions (Io & Chong, 2022). This not only helps keep the culture’s past alive, but also brings in new art, which helps traditional civilizations stay alive. Adding performance art to new city planning could help save China’s cultural history.

When it comes to originality and the development of novel concepts, China is light years ahead of the rest of the world in many respects. People’s inability to think creatively and beyond the box has prevented some of the major shifts that have occurred in the world over the last four decades from taking place (Howard, 2016). The demands and requirements of the people, as well as the many types of information infiltration and shifts in ideology that are coming from a variety of sources, are all taken into consideration at the highest levels of government (Wei & Long, 2021). It is more likely to be reacting at this moment than it is to be leading or directing at this stage. In this sense, I believe it is essential to emphasize that contemporary Chinese society has a great deal of originality as well as fresh concepts. Teenagers in China now have access to greater possibilities to develop and adapt as a result of China’s reform and opening-up policy (McLaren, 2010). They are quite knowledgeable about the most recent trends in clothing, art, music, and ways of

My Experience As A Social Worker

My Experience As A Social Worker

Being a social worker is important because it allows an individual to have the ability of helping people function best within the environment they live, however, there may be some barriers which may hinder that person working as a social worker. These barriers may include the physical and mental illness, poverty as well as, drugs and alcohol addiction. It is evident that, working as a volunteer has helped many students in determining whether social work is a career or an interest to them.

As a social worker, I have plan in engaging voluntary jobs such as working in treatment and recover centers for alcohol and drug abuse given that this will help me have fully interest in work with people especially the parents and their children who tend to have substance abuse problems.

As a social worker, I will also ensure that I use NASW Code of Ethics because its main purpose and responsibilities is to serve as a guide to the everyday professional conduct of social workers. The NASW Code of Ethics is significant in guiding individual for their daily practice behaviors, since it provides a comprehensive and strategic outline of the social worker’s profession standards and conduct. Social workers on the other hand should ensure that they exhibit values, principles, along with set of standards that are recognized as the basis of ethical practice. The NASW Code also articulates standards that the social work profession can as well use in accessing whether social workers have engaged in unethical conduct.

Consequently, social workers should acquire good communication skills since it may be essential to good social work practice. Therefore, it is necessary for a social worker like me to access my ability to communicate with others both in writing and speaking verbally. And as a result, since English is not my first Language, this will make me to work hard so as to improve my ability of explaining as well as, presenting my ideas in clear English which could be understood by others. Assessing my ability will include having the ability to tailor my delivery to the audience by using appropriate styles and approaches as well as, understanding the significance of non-verbal cues in oral communication.

Becoming a good social work requires one to have the ability to accept feedback. One instance where I accepted feedback was when I was in my first year of collage when I was given an assignment to do by my teacher, In the assignment I thought I did my best in handling the paper however the teacher asked me to rewrite the paper again. This made me so upset to the extent of talking to my mother that I actually wanted to drop out of that class. Just to realize from my mother that the teacher was doing so to make me improve but not to criticize my work. This then was a lesson that taught me that I should be responsible of accepting a positive and a negative feedback and if I fail to do so, then I will never succeed in life. And for sure these helped me never to be upset even when I received bad grade in my exams.

Being a social worker also requires one to willingly work with persons of diversity such as persons with disabilities, gay or lesbians and many others. Given that I come from a country full of diversity, I have the ability to assess my capacity for working with the diverse populations. I also learned that different groups of people have got different customs and rituals that they perform on a daily basis. Therefore, as individuals, we both need to learn on how we should respect that as well as, allowing one another to be ourselves while accepting the diversity.

Particularly, I consider myself as a good student. I tend to be very responsible and hard working even in class since I could submit my work in time and being on time in my classes. And today I can never miss classes unless I have emergencies. I also tend to read my textbooks prior to attending classes as well as, treating my peers, students, instructors with dignity and respect at all times.
